Audry Nicklin · Audry Without An E

Hello dear readers! By the time you read this I will hopefully be out of wrist surgery. I’ve had a cyst in my right wrist giving me trouble for the last two years. After exhausting all the minimally invasive options to deal with it I finally threw in the towel and decided to go with the maximally invasive option. I’m right handed and I’ve been told recovery will take six weeks. That is a lot of weeks to be without my dominant hand. In preparation, I have been working on a list of things I can do as newly christened lefty.

  1. Read.

  2. Take pictures of my patch collection and update my map.

  3. Type up all the notes I’ve taken in the various art classes I’ve had over the years and organize them into something more helpful.

  4. Feel sorry for myself. (No hands required!)

I’m only feeling a little sorry for myself. Of course it’s not all bad. Two hands are needed to change diapers as well, so I’ll be off diaper duty for the next six weeks.

  1. On October 30th, 1938, the radio drama version of H.G. Wells The War Of the Worlds was narrated by Orson Welles. This work brought Orson Wells into the American consciousness.

  2. Orson Welles is perhaps better known for his very first movie, Citizen Kane. I’ll admit I haven’t seen the movie, but after watching the preview (which is of a very different flavor than previews now), I’m realizing I really ought to sit down and watch. It seems like some of the themes of the movie are still relevant today.
