Seeds of Light by Elizabeth Astor · Seeds of Light by Elizabeth Astor

Hello, friends!

As we experience the deep stillness and darkness of winter, we have a natural inspiration to look ahead to the light that is available—to the growth we want to cultivate in ourselves as spring approaches. With that spirit of renewal in mind, I’m thrilled to announce two exciting upcoming events: a Clinical Intuition Practice Group launching in April and a Women’s Retreat in Nepal this October. I would love for you to join us!

In this edition, you’ll find more details about these events, a reflection on love, and a poem and songs that have been resonating with me lately.

This week, I’ve been deep in Valentine-making with my daughters, helping them craft notes for their classmates. My ever-curious 10-year-old had a sharp-eyed question: Why do we celebrate the martyrdom of a saint by sending love notes? A good question!

We discovered that St. Valentine defied the church by secretly marrying couples whose love wasn’t considered acceptable by the culture at the time. So my girls and I decided to make Valentine’s Day a celebration of love that persists against all odds. And beyond romance, it’s also a reminder to tell the people in my life that we love them—to make sure they know it.

That must include myself. When I open to the light and wellness within me, allowing love to flow fully through me rather than just from me, it transforms into something even greater. It becomes who I am. And from that space, my ability to be present and truly loving only grows.

Wishing you warmth, connection, and love this season.

If you enjoy these newsletters or know of someone who might benefit from my work, please share this with them! Thank you!

This group is offered to healers, therapists, and mental health professionals.

I am offering this online for the first time. It has been such a joy to teach this group numerous times in person, and I am excited to extend it out to those of you far and wide online.

Both as a modern world citizen and as a healer/health provider, utilizing our intuition will become more and more of an essential skill in the years to come. Being willing to follow your own intuition and your multi-sensory capacities when working with others is an indispensable skill to truly benefit your clients.

I've cherished this poem for decades because it reminds me that love isn't just something to be given or to hopefully get from another—it’s something to be received within ourselves as well. To be my own beloved is to extend to myself the same presence, kindness, and tenderness I can try to seek outside of myself. It is a quiet revolution—choosing, day after day, to be lovingly present with myself, embracing all that I feel and experience as I move through this life. And to remember that the feast of love and wellness is already here, inside oneself.

Wishing you love—and a life abundantly filled with it.

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

A beautiful song about love, and returning to your own mirror:

A good song to shake the chaos and conflict all around us out of your body:
