Kamailio World 2026: Thoughts
Posted . ~3min read.
tl;dr: Same venue as last year, amazing people, very well run, good food, great content. Looking forward to 2027.
Pre-Kamailio World
Like last year, Yeni and AnneMarie joined me on the trip. This year, we took a full week before the conference for some family time, with stops at (in no particular order):
- Legoland
- Castle Neuschwanstein
- Steiff Museum
- Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Legoland was a return visit for us. We had an incredible time last year and AnneMarie truly wanted to go again. The room had some issues for us, but the park itself was wonderfull.
We’d never been to Steiff… and had no idea how impossible it would be to get a cab. If you don’t have a car, I’d highly recommend just a day trip. The walk from the hotel to the train station with your luggage can be an adventure.
Rothenburg and the castle were places Yeni and I had visited before AnneMarie joined our family. It was an incredible feeling to return to these sites with a now party of three.
Kamailio World
Kamailio World remains an event I look forward to all year long. The conference had a great turnout and the community felt as strong as ever.
There was a moment in particular that stands out for me…
After the first day’s talks, a social dinner / networking event was held at the hotel. I was seated at a table with Yeni, AnneMarie, and Daniel’s kids enjoying a glass of wine. Glancing ahead, I see Tim Panton laughing at something that Dan Jenkins was saying. Ivan Nyarko, Yufei Tao, and David Duffett were just past them smiling and chatting away. Lorenzo Miniero, Giacomo Vaca, Federico Cabiddu were just off in the distance engaged in conversation and smiling.
The room was filled with chatter, laughter, and conversation and I was just… happy. To me, this is the spirit of the Kamailio community and I was in my happy place.
Talks were great. New releases from FreeSWITCH and Homer were announced. I got to speak again. Two great days of presentations and discussions (and thanks to Pascom) have already been posted to Kamailio World’s YouTube Channel.
(My slides, if you’re interested, have been posted to pgpx.io/kw2026.)
The event was held at the same hotel (Novotel) as last year. This year, however, I realized how close we were to so many locations. Walking distance to Ritter Sport (where we made our own chocolate again), Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz, and more.

Final Thoughts
I personally didn’t take many pictures during Kamailio World, so looking forward to seeing others'.
Not sure if it was Anti-American tensions, or just personality, but this year in Southern Germany, we definitely felt a rudeness we had not experienced in past years. Also, the trains in Germany definiately dissapointed. Really late this year, causing missed connections and longer travel times — not to mention trains with broken doors, over-crowding, and a general decline in service. Sad, as train travel had been one of my favorite parts of a Germany trip.
Looking forward to Kamailio World 2027!
