Great news for your PAC-PASSION ⊟

No longer will you have to keep your PAC-PASSION repressed. There’s a place for people like us, and it’s the Pac-Man Museum+. I may sound like I’m joking, but anything that includes Pac-Man Battle Royale, one of my all-time favorite games, stokes the flame of my PAC-PASSION.

Though it seems weird to do a furniture collection and room layout minigame while still playing Animal Crossing daily, I also really, really want to design my own arcade in this thing.

I’ll be picking up the Switch version on the May 27 release date, but if I had an Xbox I could get it on Game Pass that same day. What a dang deal!

It’s eShop Bike Doordash Crazy Taxi ⊟

That’s Food Delivery Battle, from “VTuber and streamer friendly” developer STPWorks. What that entails for this game is that you can use 3D models from VRoidHub and therefore BE your VTuber character in game… in the PC version.

I don’t see that functionality here in the Switch version, but that’s fine because what I do see is a $4 competitive anime bike food delivery game, with weapons.

Print your own Game Boy shell ⊟

I may have Analogue Pocket FOMO right now, but at least there are cool DIY options for making a really nice handheld system, like these 3D printable Game Boy Pocket shells by gingerbreadnerd. Yes, one of them is Lego compatible!

Now I also have 3D printer FOMO!

Cyber Gadget’s latest Switch controller is a Transformer ⊟

Whether you prefer a symmetrical or asymmetrical layout, or want to change the position of the d-pad for each different game, or if you like those Total eSports Trigger Things, or if you like losing parts of things, the Cyber Gyro Controller Pro has something for you. With its various augments and mods, it is the most cyber of gadgets.

Not that I’m a high spec gamer or anything, nor do I have around 70 dollars to drop on a controller, but with all the features and the ability to record macros, I’m definitely curious about this thing. I’d probably end up fidgeting with all my controller doodads instead of playing games…

Welcome to my home, I’ve laid out the ghost tongue for you to climb in

Bandai has upped the game in terms of monster maw-based home furnishings, developing a Gengar mouth bed. The ~$250 accessory acts as decoration, guest accommodation, temporary nap space, it’s probably working for someone (no judgment)… few items in the average home serve as many purposes at once as this one hungry cartoon ghost.

I like Space Invaders Forever, so go buy this other collection instead

I’ve been playing the Space Invaders Forever collection whenever I get a spare moment on my Switch. And Space Invaders games, descending as they do from an arcade game with an average playtime of a minute or two, are eminently spare-moment-friendly. The three games in the collection are all Space Invaders variants, from the rhythm-rave Space Invaders Extreme to the mobile mashup Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders, all different, and all absolutely worth visiting or revisiting.

However, there’s something missing from this Space Invaders collection. Like… Space Invaders. If you want that, you’ll have to use the Japanese eShop account you use for demos (you have one, right?), get some Japanese eShop credit, and purchase the Space Invaders Invincible Collection. I know this sounds like a lot of work for ancient games, but it’s on sale right now for about $30, the same as Space Invaders Forever, and it comes with all the same games plus Space Invaders in both monochrome and color, Space Invaders Part 2, Majestic Twelve, and Super Space Invaders ‘91. I’m guessing anyone interested in a Space Invaders compilation is going to want a bigger Space Invaders compilation.

Calico is an early Indie World standout⊟

I watched the Indie World video today with my kids between homeschool activities. After the trailer for beautiful pastel cat-cafe adventure Calico, my daughter grabbed the Switch and loaded up the eShop to see if it was available yet. She kept monitoring the shop intermittently until it was up, then bought it immediately.

In other words, the theme, look, and subject matter of Whitethorn Digital’s new game have an instant appeal. I haven’t heard how it is yet from my young critic…

Please let me know if Pikachu ASMR does anything for you ⊟

I don’t have the Power of Tingles so I don’t know if this Pikachu by the Patio video gets the job done. For me it’s just a weirdly quiet, cute video. Which, I mean, fine. But I really hope the Pokemon Company did the research and the meticulous foley work to perfectly target people’s sound-liking neurons. Like, someone’s job at the Pokemon Company involved researching ASMR videos, for Pokemon. For work.

Anyway, if you like this, don’t worry, there are Squirtle and Charmander videos too.

Play Nintendo is the most relevant it’s ever been ⊟

In these Troubled Times, we’ve been printing out a variety of activities and crafts for our six-year-olds to work on. And I’ve been using Nintendo’s kid-focused Play Nintendo site as a resource. Nintendo just quietly puts stuff there for me to remember to check occasionally!

Just this week they posted this cute printable Animal Crossing amiibo diorama thing. I’ve also printed backpack tags, back when I thought we’d be going back to school in the near future, and pinwheels.

Of course you do not need to have children to enjoy these projects. You probably need a printer.

Space Invaders Invincible Collection is here to fill an important retro gaming gap ⊟

It’s Space Invaders! It’s one of the primordial Video Games (and one that remains fun and exciting) and it’s not yet on Switch. I have it on a keychain, but not on Switch. The upcoming Invincible Collection looks like a great way to get it, too, with a bunch of weird sequels and variants including the Very Important Space Invaders Extreme.

If you want to pay an extra $100 or so, you can get three more games, plus an art book, cards, a bag, and a Space Invaders-themed board game, in the Special Edition. Do I have enough of an interest in Space Invaders to buy a $150 limited edition from Japan? I kind of hope not!

Here’s the holiday Pac-Man suit you didn’t know you needed

I was about to goof on these Opposuits designs, but the more I look at them… these are fun, y’all. If you think your wardrobe supports a novelty holiday-themed suit, you could choose to rock one of these!

Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection brings more futuristic robots into the present

Look, here’s a collection of all the Mega Man Zero/ZX games, coming to Switch on January 21. It’s also coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One the same day. That makes (counts on fingers) a lot of Mega Man games available easily on modern consoles. This one includes optional HD smoothing and a new casual difficulty mode, for me.

If you’d like a Mega Man game to be newly available on a less modern console, I’ll direct you to Retro-Bit’s new printing of Mega Man: The Wily Wars.
