TestMyReading.com is a free, scientific tool designed to help you measure, track, and improve your reading speed (WPM) and comprehension.

The Mission

We believe that reading is the ultimate meta-skill. In an age of 15-second videos and infinite scrolling, the ability to deep-read complex information is becoming a rare superpower.

However, most adults haven't improved their reading speed since elementary school. We settle for an average of 238 words per minute, often hindered by habits like subvocalization and regression.

Our mission is simple: To provide a distraction-free environment where you can benchmark your skills and unlock your brain's potential.

Why I Built This

Hi, I'm Summer, the creator of TestMyReading.com.

A few years ago, I realized I was buying more books than I could ever read. I felt overwhelmed by the amount of information I needed to process for my work and personal growth. I tried to find a simple, clean online tool to test my reading speed, but everything I found was either cluttered with ads, required a paid subscription, or looked like it was built in 1999.

So, I decided to build the tool I wanted to use.

TestMyReading.com is designed with a “Focus-First” philosophy. No pop-ups, no clutter—just you and the text.

The Methodology

Unlike basic stopwatches, this tool focuses on Effective Reading Speed.

• Standardized WPM: We use the standard formula (Total Words / Time in Minutes).
• Comprehension Checks: Speed means nothing without understanding. Our AI-calibrated quizzes ensure you aren't just skimming.
• Multi-Language Support: We are working to support English, Chinese, and Japanese to help language learners worldwide.
