Street Photography

Contemplate street photos that are like visual zen koans. You sense the truth, but explanations only echo its power.

The Art of Seeing: Why I Shoot

Street photography is my meditation in motion. From the streets of New York City to the alleys of Japan, from Chicago's architecture to Italy's piazzas, it demands complete presence—you're witnessing countless unrepeatable moments, alert to every ripple in the social fabric, ready to crystallize fleeting instants into two-dimensional truths of candid photography and street portraits.

These moments of truth, especially in black and white, often feel like taking pictures in a dream—you're fully present yet somehow outside of time.

“The more I see, the less I know for sure.”
John Lennon

Methodology

My visual language is informed by industrial design and 20th-century reportage. I shoot primarily to strip away the noise of the modern world, revealing the geometry underneath.

“One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”
Henry Miller

The Gear

I believe in single-purpose tools. My setup is minimal by design:

  • Systems: Phone, Full Frame, and APS-C (Ricoh GR).
  • Preferred Native Focal Lengths: 28mm & 40mm.
  • Process: Zone focusing. Uncropped. High-contrast.

Recognition

  • Ricoh GR Official Select: Selected by the Ricoh team in Tokyo from over 300 entries.
“The bold black frame heightens the thrill of peering down below.” — GR Official
  • Tokyo International Foto Awards: Awarded for the “Commuter” series (2023).
  • Flickr: Regularly featured on the global explore feed.

Let's Create Together

I am selective about projects but eager to work with those who resonate with this approach to visual storytelling. Let's talk.

“We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
Anaïs Nin
