Recently, the Silloth Airfield project received some information from Ken Burleigh about the different roles his mother and father played at Silloth Airfield during WW2 and after. Arthur and Betty Burleigh’s house in Silloth 3, Hylton Terrace was bought by Lawrence and Mary Marshall in May 1962. Arthur passed away in December 2007 aged 96. Practical help needed
Earlier this year £9,600 was awarded to STAG by Heritage Lottery for a project about Silloth Airfield. The aim is to highlight the part played by Silloth people and the brave men and women working at the aerodrome during WW2 and make sure they are not forgotten. Lots of people love Silloth and many are proud of the town’s role during the war years, so if you are one of these people, please get in touch and help us complete the project.
