My favourite translator said that when she was an ambassador for Hungary she took all these Japanese politicians on a tour and she was trying to circumtranslate ‘merry go round’ cause she didn’t know the Japanese word for it by calling it a ‘horse tornado for children’ and they had no blessed idea what she was saying and she finally started running in circles going up and down and they go ‘ohhhhh, in Japan we call those ‘merry-go-rounds’”
the pros of reading ao3 fics in public is that their layout is so clean and simple that people would think you’re reading some academic researches when you’re in fact reading a 50k fic. the cons is that you need to control your face all the fucking time
An additional feature: the layout is clean and simple BUT anyone familiar with AO3 will immediately recognize it. Pro or con? You decide.
If they know it enough to recognize it on sight, they probably aren’t going to be judging me about it.
Always bear in mind that there is absolutely no legitimate evidence that Luigi was actually the one who killed the insurance company guy.
Of course he wasn’t. He was at a party with me that day.
No but like literally, actually. All bits aside.
He didn’t do it.
The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.
Why would the real killerhero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi’s stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?
From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him “the killer” instead of “alleged” or “accused”) and then when I say he didn’t do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn’t. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.
I’m paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD
Thank-you to all of my new Internet stranger friends for being so gracious about having my post shoved onto your dashboards. I loved reading all of your kind tags and comments! Both Martin and Bosco have been gone for several years now but for 24 hours, they felt very present in my life. I greatly appreciate this gift. ❤️
Reblog to have your dashboard be visited by the spirit of joy that death can end but not erase.
Love that this is well beyond 7000 people now and still going
@leavescrown Exactly! It’s a beautiful gift. Martin and Bosco out there travelling around the Tumblr community, continually making new friends.
Back during pride month, the football team I support (Corinthians) decided to make an instagram post celebrating LGBTQ+ pride day. This was the post they made. Do you notice anything missing?
That’s right, the green stripe on the pride flag has been removed. Because Corinthians’ biggest rival, Palmeiras, has green as its main color.
Corinthians said: you can be queer, but we draw the line at being a Palmeiras fan.
Fun fact: in the early 2010s, when Corinthians was building its new stadium, the president of the club wanted to dye the pitch grass black to make the stadium completely green-free. Unfortunately the Brazilian football federation wouldn’t allow it
To compensate for this, Corinthians will sometimes edit the green out of the grass in its social media posts
When the women’s team played a rivalry game against Palmeiras at the Palmeiras stadium (where absolutely EVERYTHING is green), the social media posts were in black and white (which are the Corinthians colors)
the postal service names their shit exactly like how a 16 y.o. names angsty fanfic
Explain.
try and tell me literally any one of these would not fit above a short story about two wholly random men from the MCU fingering each other, or possibly 12 chapters of one or more characters from a CW show being in high school while having a photogenic but terminal kind of cancer. try.
ok so i want to say in hindsight i think i could probably have been clearer
