The current version number is displayed in the top right.

  • Launch on login
  • Restart on wake: Restarting on wake is only necessary if trackpad gestures do not work upon waking from sleep.
  • Check for updates automatically
  • Check for Updates…
  • Repeated commands: specify the behavior when you repeat a command, for example pressing the keyboard shortcut for Left Half multiple times in a row. The options are:

    • do nothing
    • cycle through displays: Repeat the same command on the “next” display (the next display that appears to the right or below).
    • cycle sizes on half actions: Cycle through the following sizes, selectable by checkbox:
      • , ½, , ¼, ¾
    • move to adjacent display on left or right: When there is another display available in the direction the window is being placed, move to that adjacent display and continue across the display with additional repetitions.
    • move to adjacent on left/right, or cycle size on half: This is a combination of the previous two options, depending on available displays. When there is another display available in the direction that the window is being placed, move to that adjacent display and continue across the display with additional repetitions. Otherwise, cycle through the selected sizes (, ½, , ¼, ¾).

The selectable sizes are in an unusual order, and this is because Spectacle originally had the ordering , ½, . Rectangle kept this to be a drop-in replacement for Spectacle.

If you desire different repetitions, you can create them in Custom Size & Position.

  • Reset repetitions when modifiers are released: For example, if you repeat Left Half with modifiers down twice, remove the modifiers and execute Left Half again, then the result is simply left half instead of the next repetition.

  • Allow any keyboard shortcut (remove safeguards): If enabled, it’s possible to override some system keyboard shortcuts.

  • Gaps between windows: Set the pixel gap between windows.

  • Apply window gaps to screen edges: This can be disabled to keep windows flush with the edge of the display despite having Gaps between windows greater than 0.

  • Move cursor along with window across displays: When executing a command that moves a window to another display, the cursor will move to the center of the window after placement.

  • Double-click window title bar to maximize/restore: This is a replacement of the corresponding macOS functionality. Unlike the macOS functionality, this will perform a full maximize instead of a fitting size.

  • Resize adjacent windows after dragging window edge: All adjacent windows will be resized on mouse up after dragging a window.

  • Adjust windows when the Dock size or location is changed: When you show or hide the dock, or move it to a different screen edge, then windows adjacent to the Dock will be automatically adjusted to fit against the dock or screen edge.

  • Automatically restore a display's layout when reconnected

  • Stage Manager recent apps area: Configure the area for Stage Manager that Rectangle Pro will not place windows on. Set this to 0 if you want Rectangle Pro to ignore the Stage Manager recent apps area.
  • Sync configuration over iCloud
  • Export Config, Import Config: Export or import a JSON file with Rectangle Pro’s configuration.
  • Restore Default Shortcuts & Snap Areas: If you want to remove all settings instead of just the shortcuts and snap areas, you’ll need to execute the following Terminal command and restart the app:
defaults delete com.knollsoft.Hookshot
  • Purchase / Remove Activation
  • Remove Oldest Activation: On a new Mac where Rectangle Pro has not been activated, you can remove the oldest activation associated with a license. This exists for scenarios where you no longer have access to a Mac but you have reached the limit on your device activations.
