TASC R40,
a dedicated chess computer with an ARM6 32Bit RISC Processor at 40 MHz, produced and market by TASC as successor of the TASC R30 along with their Chess System and the wooden SmartBoard with electronic piece recognition, released in 1994. Running the same The King program(s), the R40 had a 10 MHz faster clock frequency than the R30 and 1024 KiB of RAM for almost doubled transposition table size. Officially only 20 items were manufactured, supposedly even only 6 or 7, considered the strongest dedicated unit of the 90s 1. The TASC R40 played the Aegon 1994 and Aegon 1997.
