The Survey Text Formatting Helper (source code) is a standalone website tool developed in collaboration with Kayde Arcane that implements a custom text parser. It allows users to easily apply a range of in-line formatting adjustments to short text passages.
This document will show some examples of how in-line formatting can be used to detect and interfere with bad-faith actors in your research protocols. The aim here, in conjunction with the Survey Text Formatting Helper, is to help show how you can build your own tests and traps to separate those bad-faith actors from earnest survey takers.
