Born and raised on the West Coast, Dr. Jensen cut his scientific teeth at Reed College, managing an animal behavior lab after completing his BA. These behavior-analytic investigations continued during his graduate studies at Columbia University. He has since returned to Reed College as a faculty member. He has been known to indulge in periodic nonsense. He speaks in the third person on occasion, when stylistic convention demands it.
