I sure could use an editor, but I have never been happier or more fulfilled since I realized that none of us are, have been, or will ever be alone.
Of course we can be conditioned to believe just about anything. But the truth is that we are part of a living, breathing, universe that does not edit my writing but does countless other things.
No, you are not going it alone, even if your grammar is as poor as my own.
Observation is participation. We are indeed part of a larger thing, that does not require perfect grammar or spelling. We bounce a signal off the bottom and record the time it takes to return. We respond by not responding. Our own breathing tells us everything we need to know, and some. The key to fathoming reality is careful listening.
We need help. We need help to escape the narrow confines of our conditioning. Therapists can help with this. Maybe a listening coach might be a plus. I would sure love an editor, but I am fine without one. A great job for retired librarians might just be shushing Americans. Or as they say in Jersey, “Shut the fuck up” quite regularly.
The best practice for careful listening does not require a former librarian, or a frothing New Jersey dirt bag screaming. What it takes is gratitude infused conscious breathing: no myths, legends, dogma, gym, gear, or footwear.
The core of signaling is careful listening. There has never been a better time to work on our signal game than the present. It is a hell of a lot easier than editing. If only.
