It’s true, all you need to start a profitable business online is just $9 per month.
$9 is not a lot of money.
It works out to be just $108 over the whole year.
The World According To... is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
And that is the cost of building a community on the Skool platform.
Skool allows you to upload all the content you want, and it will process payments for you.
Cheap As Chips!
I don’t know if there will be a price increase in the future, but as I write this it costs only $9 per month.
I don’t know what the price of food and drink is for you in the part of the world you live but at the time of writing $9 is just £6.60 here in the UK, and that would buy me a coffee and half a cake.
Last night we decided to order a Chinese takeaway as we had been busy all day and didn’t feel like cooking.
That meal for two people (and it was a lot of food) came to just under £19, which is roughly around $25.
The price of that one meal would nearly pay for 3 months community hosting fees.
I really want to get across how affordable this is.
$9 is not a lot of money for hosting a community that has the potential to make you a lot of money.
Worse Case Scenario Will Still Double Your Investment!
Even if you run a free community for a whole year at $108, you should easily be able to earn back double.
One full year of happy people interacting with your content should give you one or two people who are willing to buy any products or services you decide to promote or offer.
You’d have to be really unlucky to not be able to find a few customers over a whole year of trying who are willing to pay you more than your $108 outlay.
There are people who are making thousands of dollars from a $108 Skool community.
Other than the actual price for Skool, everything else is free.
Share Your Community Details Far And Wide… For Free!
You can use YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X (still Twitter to me), Bluesky, and TikTok to find people who are interested in the kind of content you share in your group.
Those platforms allow you to put a combination of videos, text posts, and images in front of potentially millions of people… at no cost to you!
It’s actually mindblowing what you can do today.
Two decades ago, it would have cost you thousands of dollars paying media and advertising companies to get your business details out in front of people, today you can do it all yourself for free.
Grow An Online Community Around An Offline Subject Or Industry
The future of online business is going to be about focusing on real world offline subjects and industries.
AI will soon have the digital creative and information side of things all stitched up.
But AI cannot share a video of itself riding through the Majorcan mountains on a skateboard.
AI cannot actually show you how to build a pond in your garden.
It can tell you what to do, but it cannot show you for real.
In this post: Who’d Have Thought You Cob Building Would Be So Profitable Online! - This Is A Perfect Example Of A Profitable Offline Online Hybrid Business, I talk about a guy who is making just shy of $2,000 each month sharing information about building eco-friendly cob houses.
It’s a real offline subject that people are interested enough to pay $5 per month to be part of the community.
Imagine that you were running a community that was earning you around $2,000 per month and all it was costing you was $9!
It is more than doable.
Start Small And Grow Into Your Business
Skool does have a premium plan which costs $97 per month, but you most certainly do not need that when starting out with just one community.
Start small, first, then grow into your business.
Start your community, then create content to be shared across free-to-use social media and point back to your community.
You don’t need any crazy page-heavy funnels promoting upsells, downsells, unnecessary-sales, and you-really-don’t-need-this-extra-piece-of-shite-sales.
Put all of your information and content into one place, your community, and drive people to that using content shared on social media.
It really can be that simple.
Until next time.
Have a great day.
Andi
