I’m good! Thank you - been a whirlwind of a few weeks, and now I’m back working on revisions for the second book in my contract which are due in just a couple weeks!
Exciting stuff! Can you start by sharing a little about IT HAPPENED ONE MURDER?
Absolutely. IT HAPPENED ONE MURDER is a dual POV cozy mystery / rom com about a down on her luck 26 yr old woman (read: she lost her dream job, was evicted from her apartment in NYC and moved back to her tiny quaint NJ beach town & in with her narcissist of a mother). When there’s a murder at her bday party, she’s forced to team up her ex situationship to solve it!
Such a fun pitch! Where’d the idea come from?
I’d been playing around with the idea of writing something with characters in their mid 20s for a while. When I was 25, I had what can only be described as a severe quarter life crisis--i broke up with a serious boyfriend, moved back to my home city for grad school, and just felt totally lost. That was the jumping off point, but the rest came out of my love of rom coms and mysteries - i thought it would be a fun experiment to try to combine them. Basically, i wanted to write a book that i would be excited to read;)
A book you’d be excited to read—that’s always a good rule of thumb! Tell me about the experiment of actually writing it. Did you make an outline first or just start writing...?
