Hi my love,

Here we are at part two of our Menstrual Cycle Nourishment series. If you missed last week, scroll back to read about the bleed time, now we move into the follicular phase.

After the cleansing phase of the ”InnerWinter” the Kapha dosha which is associated with building and nourishment, becomes dominant. The body is building up its energy and uterine lining. Our protocol for the “Inner Spring” is focused on strengthening and tonification. Enjoy this bursting forth of fresh energy as fertility hormones start to build again.

  • Light, energizing foods: Opt for fresh and dry foods with warming spices to balance Kapha’s heavy, moist qualities. For example lentil / vegetable soup with broth, or roast vegetables with spices (roasting reduces moisture (kalpha) from veggies)

  • Increase spices: Continue using warming spices to stoke your digestive fire (agni) like ginger, cinnamon, pepper, cumin. ≠

  • Stimulate circulation: Incorporate ingredients like turmeric and aloe vera, which help clear stagnation.

  • As your energy returns it’s time for more stimulating movement like dynamic yoga, strength training or brisk walking to boost circulation.

  • Dry body brushing. The perfect practice for inner (& outer) Spring season. It helps to tone and invigorate skin, lymphatic fluid, and blood flow.

  • Abhyanga (oil massage): Practice gentle self-massage with warm oil, such as sesame or almond oil, to nourish the body and prepare it for the upcoming phase.

  • Maintain a consistent routine: Follow a regular daily routine (dinacharya) to help keep your doshas in balance.

  • Be aware of doing too much & buying into ‘false urgency’ no need to go from 0-100 in one week.

Study Ayurveda in your own timing, we focus on women wellbeing through rituals, doshic understanding, food as medicine, sleep hygiene, healthy intimacy and sexuality, living in sync with natures rhythms and more.
