Caught in the In-Between

Since the story is dark, occult, and different, I thought, why not make my publishing approach wildly different as well. Caught in the In-between was a short story that I loved and thought it needed its own space to live. So it got just that, its own short-form book. Plus, it was a bonus that I have used it as another way to gain more experience in this wild field we call self-publishing.

Instead of outsourcing, I invested my own talents in the project. Mainly because all my money went into Requiem, but who’s counting.

This project has felt much more realistic for self-publishing going forward because I just do not have the money to produce another Requiem standard project.

That being said, I had some money invested, but it was from years ago in products I had paid for or decided to go open source.

What I used:

Cover Art: Canva pro, Krita & free to use stock photos

Editing: Myself, my husband, and a little help from ProWritingAid for the grammar & spelling (avoiding the AI features, because that matters to me specifically)

Formatting: Microsoft Word & Canva pro for the image details (not for the faint of heart, images in Word are a struggle)

Publishing platforms: KPD & IngramSpark

With all this laid out, I am entirely unsure if I will do an audiobook version or not. I am interested in doing one myself, but it would require $ and time, which I don’t think I have at the moment. Between chasing around a baby and refinishing my desk, I have been completely swamped.

But it is ready!

My first proof is in the mail and I am just waiting on a very few final items.

I even have an author blurb for the cover, and some advanced reviews will come out shortly as well. (Which all the initial feedback has been resoundingly positive - thank god cause it’s my fav story ever)
