This last month was a whirlwind of work, but I did manage to have a little fun inbetween.
My best friend and I had a super awesome nostalgia-fuelled sleepover. Visited 4 different thrifting spots. Watched Scary Movie 4. Walked around our old universtiy town. And bought some liquour, the type we used to drink in uni.
Trust me when I say. There is nothing more humbling than going into a liquour store and looking for a brand that quite literally does not exist anymore. I knew I was getting older but my favourite liquor brands being extinct really took it to another level. The sales guy actually said Kraken was back again. Like I had lived so long that Kraken was uber popular and then its brand died and now it had enough time to make a comeback…
Any one else constantly being reminded of their aging in the weirdest ways possible?
If you don’t hear from me it is likely that I’ve fallen and can’t get up. (if you know this reference welcome to the club cause you are now nearing that age too)
On top of that… I think I might quite literally be a little insane.
I spent the last month curating my email list, for the booksellers that I will be sending my book sell sheets to. It started pretty leisurely at first, just hand selecting some local shops that I knew of and listing their emails in an excel file.
Next thing I knew, I was zooming around google maps visiting as many shop websites as I could across the world to copy their contact emails. Then I found some directory websites.
Long story short; I have a list of over 1,500 email addresses for book shops around the world.
Indie book sales are HARD. Shops can’t stock everything even if they wish they could because of their limited shelf space. They also want to make money, just like us. And unfortunately that means priority always goes to the big guys.
So my plan has been “send everywhere humanly possible” as a one woman show.
It is daunting. I have sent a lot of emails, and maybe 1% have received replies. But we keep going, because in indie publishing no one else is going to sell our books for us.
This month has just been all round busy.
I finished my final edits on Caught in the In-Between and am double checking all the formatting to ensure it is ready to be submitted to ingram and KDP.
Requiem has been a little stalled, I just have been focusing on prep work and Getting Caught in the In-Between caught up for its July release.
I am looking forward to May because while it is getting closer and closer to my book launches, I actually don’t have as many tasks piled up that I need to finish.
Hoping to MAYBE figure out the balance between productivity and relaxation. 🤞

TV Show: Your Friends & Neighbors
Once again I am late to the party. I really wasn’t sure what to think of this show but I am hooked! Really though, any excuse to watch a show with Jon Hamm is fine with me. It is a very people focused drama, with a dash of crime. The entire cast does a fantastic job making their characters and the insane circumstances they get into feel real.
TV Show: Ghosts (US)
Surprise surprise this is another show I started because I love the main actress. Rose McIver is the best, and I sorely needed something to fill that iZombie shaped hole in my heart. This show is fun. period. It is the perfect show to unwind to at the end of the day when you just need something silly to take the weight off.
