The Raven Dreams: Book One
Chapter 12: Eva
When Eva woke, it was dark outside. She’d slept the entire afternoon. Sitting up in bed, slowly, she rolled her head, testing the soreness. The sleep had helped. She was no longer dizzy, and all that remained from the incident was a small bump on her head.
She threw her legs over the bedside and, with a deep breath, got to her feet and moved across the room to the bathroom without any issues. All seemed well. The scent of food wafting from downstairs drew her attention when she passed by her open bedroom door.
Isaak must be cooking.
Then she heard the conversation, faint enough that she couldn’t make out the words, but not so faint that she didn’t recognize the voice of her best friend, Hazel, talking with her brother. She quickly washed up and carefully walked down the stairs.
