Tibi Style Class Recap: Season 7, Ep. 23

Well Tibi fans, we were FED this week. We got our regular Style Class, three bonus Style Class episodes, further Resort markdowns, a peek at Resort 2027, and Spring was finally added to sale. What a time to be alive.

It’s always a thrill when Rachel joins my watch party of one. Grab your color wheel and let's break it down.

TS: Amy’s hair is so cute. We don’t see it down like this very much. It’s straight, it’s shiny, and very sleek. Is this on purpose because she is starting off Style Class in a very sleek ensemble? I feel like there’s a Tibi principle somewhere about hair and style. Also worth noting that Amy is wearing all black while talking about today’s theme of color principles.

RS: Black and navy… Ring 1 and 2. I have to preface this by saying I believe in the principles but sometimes the ring terminology freaks me out. She has buttery highlights. I think Amy’s hiring prowess extends to selecting a colorist.

TS: Amy rolls her eyes and tells us she does not believe in Color Theory. Noted. Me either. But I would still like to get my colors done, even though I’ve never understood why it costs hundreds of dollars for someone to drape fabric. In fact, my mother has been giving me color analysis (for free) for years along the lines of “grey washes you out, why not wear a little color around your face, I could never wear that color but maybe you can.” She taught me everything I know about self confidence.

RS: LOL. My mom had it done and then had my dad and me do it too. I forgot everything. But she learned that she looks good in purple and has been obsessed with it ever since. (This was circa 1987.) My mom had a purple coverlet made by someone on Etsy. And she does not let my dad buy a car unless the color will look good on her. I forgot everything.

TS: So the car is purple?

TS: Keturah asks Amy if her outfit is a One, Ton, or None. Uh oh. I have no idea. Is this a trick question? This is a little reminder that you may think you know the principles but in a crunch you have so much to learn. Amy says Keturah’s outfit is an example of Ton and also an example of the Rule of Three. Obviously. I’m distracted by how toned Amy’s arms are. Not a crinkle, not a wrinkle, not a waddle in sight, just saying. Is this all from barre class? Sign me up. But not really, I hate barre.

RS: See, she found the best person to tend to her arms. Obvs. Do you think she has a light spray tan?

TS: 1000%. Is spray tan Ring Two?

TS: Red heels on Keturah, check! Really nice with the blue pants. I’m clocking her red nails as well.

RS: I love the red nail too, like it’s the RIGHT red. And I’d ask her about it but that would be something a creepy fangirl would do. The red and blue would be a lot but the “ish” brown makes it more sophisticated and mellows it.

TS: I want this damn color wheel so badly I can't stand it. Rachel, do you have this? The little sticker version they send with purchases just isn’t the same.

RS: No. And this is where I confess that I distill the wheel down to one fact: “Ish” colors fix everything. That’s my entire focus. I need weird colors to calm my brights, especially when wearing the brights with black, white or navy. The rest, I have no idea. I don’t know why I spin the wheel. Come holiday time, I can tell you every gift I give will be wrapped in the Tibi tissue that comes in the box and sealed with a color wheel sticker.

TS: Love this! But if you had the wheel you could do your Sunday night outfit planning by spinning the wheel and letting it decide how you will get dressed. Sort of like a Magic 8 Ball.

TS: Amy, on why we have a closet full of things, and nothing to wear. Not sure I'm following fully. She's saying, for example, that maybe we have a lot of things that make us feel energetic - as in, bright Ring Four colors (me, that’s me). But the problem is that we keep buying the same thing without realizing it because we're buying different colors, but they're all Ring Four. Wait, I think she is about to say we should add Ring Three colors. Ding ding ding!!!! She adds the Ring Three (the Nylon Anorak Top) around her waist, breaking up the Ring One Skirt (which I own and love), and the Ring Four top. And boom, I’ve just learned something. I would not have thought to put those colors together and I completely overlooked the Anorak top. And it’s on sale - whee! Stand by while I shop. Update, it's almost completely sold out in this color. Womp, womp. It is available and on sale in other colors, but they are not Ring Three colors.

RS: EXACTLY. I have this Ring 3 sweater and I really needed it today but the chocolate covered date I had eaten somehow was in a glob on this sweater (and also on our couch. And on the throw blanket that was on our couch). Anyhoo. I ended up taking one from my husband’s closet. When you need a Ring 3, you need a Ring 3.

TS: Lol. I am currently packing for a trip and half of what I am pulling out has a mystery stain. Into the suitcase it goes.

TS: WHAT, Sloane now has on All Four Rings. But now I'm confused about the Rule of Three. Hmm.

RS: Right - the 1 and 2 are subtle. Do you notice that Sloane never says “um” or “like.” This is #goals for me. I think Rule of Three has to do with the details of an outfit or a single piece. It can have 3 standout details. But then I’m not always sure of what “counts” as a standout detail.

TS: I have not noticed that about Sloane, but I also have never noticed that you use those filler words. I have noticed that Sloane looks good in everything and seems very cool.

TS: Sloane in the Kamara print!!!!! So smart to style it with the striped crinkle blazer - I would have never thought of that. She looks amazing! She’s talking about the sizing in the skort and I concur. I tried it on today (in white, which I believe is the same fabrication) and needed to size up two sizes.

RS: I like that combo too. Shorts to not comply with my “rose hip jelly” but this is very cute. Enjoy.

TS: Amy in the printed skirt and tube top. Amazing. This is what I want to look like. I just bought this very skirt and I’ve been playing around with options for styling it. Sloane has shown us a pattern on pattern option, Amy suggests pairing it with a Ring Two to settle it down, and then shows it with white, which is nice as well. Rachel - you have this skirt. How are you styling it?

RS: I love it way more than I thought I would. I like it with a navy crewneck, with a little white tee peeking up, and a gold sandal. I also like adding another weird color — like a dirty turquoise sandal. Amy got inspiration from a hotel comforter. That impressed me.

TS: Okay I’m into the turquoise idea. I’ve packed this skirt for my trip to Hawaii tomorrow and I’m wondering if it would be “too much” to wear it on the plane? Where I’m in a middle seat, three rows up from the bathroom.

TM: Really beautiful color story on Keturah here - filing this one away. Two Ring Threes with a Ring Four shoe. I definitely have all these colors in my closet. Great ideas. Then Amy is back in frame saying that she almost never wears head to toe Ring Three - a hot take, noted.

RS: Burgundy-ish, olive ish + red. YEP. I never wear all Ring 3 either. It makes me feel like I should use a natural sandalwood deodorant.

TS: Lol - but I love when you do kitchen sink neutrals!

TS: Sloane, in the Eco Poplin Tank Dress, that I’ve been dying to try on. Rachel, you gave me pause when you called it a yogurt making dress 😂.

RS: Don’t get me in trouble. Its’s my own mishigas growing up so close to Cambridge, MA in the 70s.

TS: Unusually, for me, I’m not loving Amy’s styling here. I like it best all on its own - no layers thank you very much.

RS: I want to edge it up. Like with the PVC belt or more black or a studded cuff or something.

TS: I want to make yogurt in it, while wearing natural deodorant and birks.

TS: Amy in the pink top, white skirt, red shoe - fab. Amy shares a directive: we must have Ring Three in our closet. I know I have Ring Three, but I’m not sure how much as I’m pretty sure I gravitate towards Ring One and Ring Four. Maybe I will re-organize my closet into color rings. I will never do this but it’s a nice idea for a more organized person. In fact, “re-organize” implies that there is any order in my closet whatsoever.

RS: This is all of our problem. And the genius of Tibi. Let me lay it out. There are 3 basic kinds of people — 1) the ones drawn to bright and sparkle and living!!!! (ring 4) 2) the ones who want practical chic and “investment clothes” and a uniform (ring 1 + 2) and 3) the ones who are calm and maybe make pottery (Ring 3). Those are the basics. We want to buy ring 4 because it’s ALIVE! And then we find ourselves with no game plan, nothing to pair it with. And then we’re like “Be practical, get a practical pair of black pants to fix everything!” That is the myth. And then you need Ring 3 but you don’t want to buy those weird murky-unpretty colors. So maybe … a pastel? Newp. Still in 4. Still gonna do the same thing.

TS: Great intel on the Ring Four reds vs. Ring Three reds. I did not know red could be Ring Three. Also noting Amy’s rings and the nail polish. Chic.

RS: Ring 3 red almost burgundy, almost cranberry.

TS: Not to sound like AI slop, but cranberry for summer is kind of groundbreaking.

TS: What is this witchcraft Amy is doing with pink and orange and taupe. How is there any hope for the rest of us? She goes on to say that this is what she would wear if she were invited down to Palm Beach for an Emergency Polo Match. Relatable!

RS: Back to my prevailing theory: Ring 3 solves everything. That weird hazel (or whatever) skirt can take all sorts of ring 4 shenanigans. I always focus on Ring 3 sweaters. Bottoms!

TS: You know how Style Class kind of speeds up at the end when they are trying to get all the content in and still keep the audience’s attention and it’s like a rapid-fire styling sequence? Let’s try that here.

1. Sloane in the miniskirt and tube top: Okay it’s not a mini but there’s something about it that looks very young to me, which means it’s not for me.

2. The striped sweater with the red pants - YESSSSSSSS!

3. Amy has a Devil Wears Prada moment where she seems shocked and annoyed that Sloane has been put in the leather skirt. Amy visibly winces. Did I misinterpret that? Heads will roll.

4. Nobody asked and it’s not a contest, but I prefer Keturah’s head to toe red in the side by side image here. Who am I kidding, Style Class is always a contest. Speaking of which….

TS:

Episode MVP - Amy! The highlights, The arms, The Ring Three Magic. Is there anything she can’t do?

Outfit MVP - Keturah’s burgundy, taupe/hazel, and red. Plus her nails.

Hot Take - Nobody grows up wanting to be Ring Three, but eventually Ring Three is the one paying the mortgage and holding the family together. She might also be your boss.

RS:

Episode MVP - It’s Amy for saying “If you want to be rainbow bright be rainbow bright.” I think she has broadened her perspective and I don’t think she’s being snarky; I think she works on herself and I appreciate this.

Outfit MVP - It’s the one above, and especially when Amy suggests you throw on the green flip flop. This is akin to the weird hazel skirt + peach sweater + pink top. Ring 3 as grounding for an unexpected combination of 4s. I like this. Ok that’s enough numbers for today. I need to read a book and get that out of my brain.

Hot Take - The red side-by-sides should be Tibi’s holiday card this year.

A final takeaway is that Rachel clearly has Holiday 2026 on the brain. She, like Amy, is working on so many levels. I’ll be in Hawaii next week wearing my Kamara skirt on repeat and doing some shopping and try-ons at Tibi stockist, We are Iconic.
