At Audio Club next week, we’ll be taking a first principles approach and discussing our creative processes. While it’s something that may feel innate and self-explanatory to us, your process is unique, and we all have lots to gain from hearing about how each other approaches creativity.

Loyal newsletter readers may have clocked that last month’s edition was missing a ‘Hows is my garden doing?’ subsection. This was an egregious oversight by me and will not be happening again!
A previously featured plant: the nasturtiums, had a hard summer contending with weeds and the sun and was pared back to near-nothingness. Yet despite the tidings of autumn, it has sprung shoots anew, with flowers perhaps soon to come.
This online session of All The Best’s monthly Audio Club will be focussing on the creative processes behind making audio stories.
Come and learn how others think about putting stories together and be prepared to share your own approaches!
Since our first Audio Club of the year last month, our community of audio makers has been at work developing 3-5 minute stories to fit the theme FIRSTS.

Audio Flux is a home for short-form, innovative audio that invites people to create “fluxworks” in response to a theme and prompts. For each “circuit” they work with a creative partner who inspires these prompts.
For Circuit 07 Audio Flux has partnered with Capetown-based audio storytelling program, Radio Workshop, who helped connect with Kenyan-based visual artist and sculptor, Cyrus Kabiru.
The deadline for submissions is April 6.
Fellow Sunday morning fbi.radio program and podcast Race Matters has recently launched Listening Through, a series of online sessions on listening and radio-making practice. Open to people working with sound around the continent of australia, it hopes to equip attendees with critical and practical skills in radio (and adjacent fields) – specifically grounded in an anti-colonial and anti-racist standpoint.
Their second meeting of the series will feature artist, DJ, researcher and DIY sound system builder Lulu Quintanillia (DJ General Feelings), who will discuss the phenomena of Frequency. This session will invite attendees to consider how sound brings us together, how it has been weaponised, and ways she's used sound system tech as a tools of rupture and joy.
The session is happening on March 11, from 6-8pm.
60 Second Radio is inviting minute-long audio submissions across all genres for the third iteration of its program. Accepted formats include radio art, collage, soundscape, radio theatre, sonic prose and poetry, sound art, creative documentary, mutant radio, sonic captures.
The deadline for submissions is April 12.
