This one is for the days when our thoughts back us up into a corner — when the things we’ve “decided” keep us imprisoned in a reality we do not prefer. A lesson I am learning with difficulty.
… .. . . .
there are no rules to this game
except for the ones we make
the lines and edges we create
the boundaries we craft to make a place
four walls and an emptiness
that finds its way to every box
… .. . . .
nothing inside of something
reminding us that everything dies
every wall falls
and everybody becomes
one with the earth
… .. . . .
there are no rules to this game
and the home we’ve built
will belong to someone else one day
… .. . . .
so while we are here let us
dance in empty spaces
let us challenge the barriers
and rewrite the story
… .. . . .
until the day comes to say goodbye
and maybe
just maybe
we begin again
… .. . . .
Much love,
Zulfa
