Yesterday, a suspicious tarp (so, a tarp) was seen on the side of the road in Thompson, North Dakota, and according to iNewZ TV, it “got a lot of people talking” and resulted in three troopers inspecting said dark-sided tarp (so, a tarp) to determine whether it was full of blood and ghosts.
To the shock (and disappointment?) of all, it was simply a tarp. This was the cause of enough chatter for there to be a 46-second YouTube video on the topic, which I recommend you watch if only to hear Neil Carlson say “It’s uh…just a tarp.”
No word yet on whether the owner of the demonic (regular) tarp has come forward to claim their haunted property and take responsibility for frightening passersby with the blue, billowing mix of polyester, canvas, nylon, polyethylene, and polypropylene.
As a side note, I sent that video to my mother yesterday and it took her five minutes to get it to play, which I think is the bigger news story here.
A couple of years ago, I wrote a play inspired by my disdain for multi-level marketing companies and their long tail of impact on women and their relationships to each other. Except it’s actually about teenage girls who start an after-school wellness club and who “Hey Girl!” way too close to the sun.
I originally wrote it for a former classmate of mine (shout out Philip Hoks!) and his students to perform in the Minnesota State High School League one-act competition. Since then, it’s started a nice little life of its own, been produced in four states, and performed by both teen and adult casts.
I’m thrilled to say I’ve just signed an agreement with YouthPLAYS to publish this, as they described it, “deliciously dark comedy.”
That’s all for now, beware of billowing tarps!
