Greetings from April, somehow!
I know the newsletter’s been a bit quiet lately. It’s been a busy few months for me.

BANDIT’S FJORD
I wrote a new radio play, commissioned by Thief River Falls Area Community Theater. Bandit’s Fjord (pretty accurately described on KTRF Radio by TRFACT Executive Director Jane Anderson as The Walking Dead meets A Prairie Home Companion) is now written, cast, and recorded! It’s currently scheduled to air on June 18th, I believe on 90.1 FM. (If anything about that changes, I’ll spread the news here!) It’s a wild script with a local cast and I’m excited to hear it in voices other than the ones in my head.
And while, yes, it is about a strange, tall woman floating into town and having an increasingly disturbing, and honestly fishy, impact on the townspeople – don’t worry, it’s also got romance!
OTHER WRITING NEWS
Back in January, as I was wrapping up edits on the Bandit’s Fjord script, I found out I was also named a 2024 Tennessee Playwrights Studio Fellow! This means I’m spending a good chunk of this year writing another new play through this fellowship. All of that, in combination with other writing projects and my day job as Managing Editor of a board game company, means I am fully immersed in writing or editing most of the time.
THE POD
But I am still looking ahead to the second season of This Small Town podcast! I plan to go into production in Minnesota in late July for a fall 2024 release. I’ve got some stories I already know I want to talk about, but if you live in the area and there’s something you’re dying to hear or talk about on the pod, please do reach out! Responses to this newsletter go straight to my inbox. I’d love to hear what you’re excited about/baffled by in Thief River Falls, MN and the surrounding area. Bonus points if you’re willing to take me somewhere with you – girls’ night out? Me working a half day at your small business? Teach me to milk a goat? The possibilities are endless! (I won’t come to your house to clean your toilet.)
