Hey friends!

We are a week away from Japan! So, so excited. I have all my paintings packed and ready in my huge surfboard bag. Bubble wrapped and ready. I did a test round with this with my last show in Hawaii, and it worked great. Surprisingly can fit a fair amount of art in these bags :)

This past week has been more logistics than anything. As mentioned, I am packing, documenting, and shooting last-minute videos of all my work. I realized this past few months, I was so heads down painting, I didn’t shoot many WIP videos of me painting. A good lesson learned, as I had friends who offered to shoot me videos after the fact. I think in retro it’s kind of cool that I was that focused rather than setting up all these shots, which probably would have sidetracked me from the work.

On top of packing for the art show, I was also packing up my loft to move to another house down the street. Unfortunately, I got priced out in the lease and had to find another home. Super sad as I loved this place so much. Onward and upward!

Computer-wise, I’ve been thinking a lot on the presentation of the show. It was cool to have a test run in the loft, hanging all the artwork up, and when I get to Japan, that setup should be straightforward. I have 14 paintings and will likely hang 10 and rotate those out depending on space. Originally, I wanted to paint a large mural but the more sketches I do, the more it feels distracting. I may just paint the wall a light color and have the focus on the art. I’ll work that out when I get there as that will be more spur of the moment. I think in a more dedicated space, I’d love to paint the whole shop to bring in that whole experience. For this, as it’s more art fair, I want to focus on this new body of work I’m so proud of.

I take off for Japan on Tuesday to get situated, then the show is on Friday to the weekend. It’s gonna be so fun hanging out with all these artists and musicians. I love Japan so much. This will be the first time I’m going in the summer, as I spend most of my time there in the Winter snowboarding. Japan for the win. Huge shoutout to Greenroom Festival for this incredible opportunity.

At the show, I’ll also be doing live painting each day. These will be fun 1/1 sketches, similar to what I do in my sketchbook for people walking by. Really excited to paint in front of an audience.
