Finding out how to make childhood dishes is surprisingly hard when family is 2789 miles away ✈️ But when you need to be creative about making high protein taste better, without using powders, it’s funny how your mind takes you home.

This dish doesn’t really have an name, it’s really just called Shanghai pork chop in Chinese. It’s a dish that’s considered so humble, it doesn’t deserve an official name. But that also means, you’ll never find it at restaurants and every family does it a little differently. So if you make this, I guess you’re family now!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb of pork chops (boneless)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp shaoxing wine

  • 1 tsp white pepper

  • 1 tsp five spice powder

  • 1 egg

  • 3 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 7 scallions

Instructions:

  • Slice pork loin into 1 inch pieces

  • Using back of a knife or a meat tenderizer, flatten each pork loin piece
