It's been a much quieter week after the last two, with a few exhibition openings and a theatre play. It also gave me time to catch up on editing and creating content for my paid membership on Substack. The week started at the Serpentine North Gallery in Hyde Park, with The Delusion, an immersive exhibition. The week ended at the Hayward Theatre in the West End with the Salome play. In the middle of the week, there was a press preview of the surrealist photographer Lee Miller at Tate Britain.
The Delusion at Serpentine North - 29th September (206)
This was the first event of the week. I attend all the Serpentine Gallery events annually. They are always unique, and the outcome is unpredictable. This was the press preview of THE DELUSION at the Serpentine North gallery, an interactive exhibition that debuts a groundbreaking video game commission, a multiplayer immersive experience run on game engines, exploring themes of polarisation, censorship and social connection. Combining satire and absurd humour with cooperative gaming and participatory theatre, THE DELUSION explores the real-world impacts of societal division. Open from 30th September until 18th January 2026.

Lee Miller at Tate Britain - 30th September (118)
A major exhibition of the trailblazing surrealist photographer Lee Miller is at Tate Britain. This comprehensive retrospective celebrates her as one of the most urgent artistic voices of the 20th century. Opening on October 2nd and running until February 15th, 2026, it's definitely worth visiting. I didn't know much about her before. However, this exhibition reveals her struggle to become a professional photographer when the field was still in its infancy, as well as her remarkable wartime and post-war photographs.
Salome at Hayward Theatre - 30th September (613)
My first experience photographing at the Hayward Theatre captured a daring new staging of Wilde’s provocative masterpiece by the renowned Gesher Theatre from Israel. The show promises a dark, decadent interpretation of themes of power and obsession, offering a hypnotic, high-stakes reimagining of the biblical story you thought you knew. This production vividly demonstrates how theatre can serve as a bridge, encourage dialogue, and introduce new cultural insights to London’s West End.
The photos turned out great. In theatres, the main challenge is low light, so you'll always need a good, fast lens, such as F2.8 to F1.4. Sometimes, shooting at a high ISO is necessary, but not too high, because when the lights come on, the subject's highlights can be blown out.
