With the very hot weather we’ve had lately, I’ve been trying to come up with meals that require less oven cooking. This usually leads me to salads! It has been helpful to have some chicken in the freezer that I cooked in the crockpot a couple of months ago that I can use to top salads with. The chicken can also be made into chicken salad using some mayonnaise and other goodies.
This mayonnaise recipe is my all-time favorite. (And in the member section below, I will share a new recipe that my mom recently created for Mock Mayonnaise!)
Using avocado oil in this recipe ensures a delicious, mellow flavor. And I like to add a bit more vinegar to get just the flavor I like. Yum! Recipes that go great with this mayonnaise include:
Deviled Eggs
Cilantro Chicken dipping sauce
In fact, Cilantro Chicken is such a favorite recipe with our family that I’ll include it below for you!
If so, I have too! I’ve tried contacting Dannon about it and am still getting the run-around from them. They’re not admitting to a shortage but claiming they can help me find it in my area. But then what they find isn’t the Dannon plain yogurt that we use as a starter for SCD yogurt; rather, they send me to a link showing that they can locate their flavored yogurts nearby…
UPDATE: Today I received this message:
“Hi Erin,
We appreciate you reaching out to us at Dannon®. Due to increased demand, unfortunately, we have not been able to stock the Plain Whole Milk 32 oz. yogurt at the same rate we’ve been accustomed to, which is why you may not always be able to find it on store shelves. We are hopeful we’ll have your favorite product back and stocked soon. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. We appreciate your patience and thank you for being a loyal Dannon® consumer.
Let’s keep in touch! Get the latest updates by following us on social media or visiting our website.
Take care and have a healthy day,
Orlando & The Dannon® Team”
In the meantime, I have ordered GI Pro Start yogurt starter from GI Pro Health! That will take care of my yogurt-making needs for a long time, thankfully! That’s my best recommendation while you wait.
Another option would be to find another yogurt that could work for a starter. It can’t contain anything but cultured milk and has to avoid bifidobacterium.
Here’s one that someone recommended online. It’s Sprout’s plain yogurt and does not contain bifidobacterium.
Do you have another yogurt you use for starter that meets the specifications of the SCD? Please contact me to let me know and I’ll share it here!
And for more information on SCD yogurt FAQ’s, the official SCD website has a lot of information at the top right of their home page.
Enjoy this new recipe my mom came up with recently for my dad!
