Today I want to tell you more about our Indiana/Ohio trip, and also share my mom’s great ideas for recipes using berries!
Plus, a garden report… Earlier in the week we had to cover most plants because we had a late season snowstorm and a couple of nights of below-freezing temperatures (not uncommon in Colorado this time of year!). This is how it looked a couple of days ago. I found some plant-covering bags on Amazon that I quickly ordered once I saw the cold weather and snow in the forecast. Hoping the cherries on our tree are going to make it, as well as all of the greened-out plants!
In fact, last weekend the weather was so good my husband and I went plant-shopping. We were excited to find San Marzano tomatoes, which I have recently read are great to use in homemade marinara sauce. (I have plans to share an authentic Italian recipe for that this summer, with the help of my friend Anna who has lived in Italy for the past 25+ years!)
We also snagged some Super Sweet 100 indeterminate cherry tomatoes, which are one of my husband’s favorite tomato varieties because they are prolific and sweet!
Now the tomatoes are in for a couple of days while we wait out the cold nights…
Here’s to gardening season…coming soon! Do you have any fun plants planned for this year’s garden? Please share in the comments!
We’re entering Berry Season! Oh... they’re sweet, beautiful, juicy, and healthy! We have lots of great berry recipes for you! We just had house guests and they brought us two large tubs of blueberries! What to do??? Make something yummy and freeze it, if necessary. Strawberries are coming into their own, so buy a bunch! Raspberries are tender and lovely, so don’t let the season slip by!
Let’s go berry pickin’!

I think today would be a good day to go pick up some berries and do something interesting with them! Your people will thank you! Have a good weekend! ~Robin
One of the fun things we got to do while in Ohio was to visit my sister Gretchen and her family. We drove the two hours from Indianapolis to Cincinnati where we were welcomed into her hospitable kitchen, the scents of SCD food enveloping us! She hosted us on two nights, pulling together two delicious meals I could eat…What a blessing! (If you are a support person to someone on the SCD or another special diet, please know how vital and appreciated you are!)
One night she made this chicken soup…so yummy! She’s a great cook!
