EOA: Persistent Global Diesel Crisis Threatens to Curb Economic Growth
Summary
Global supply of diesel declined drastically after the start of the Hormuz crisis, as we have discussed previously. Figure 1 shows global seaborne exports of diesel. Despite some recovery in recent weeks, exports remain significantly lower than pre-crisis levels. While diesel shortages and higher prices continue to affect markets worldwide, and US diesel inventories remain below the bottom of the five-year range, the situation is expected to worsen for several reasons outlined below.
