It’s 6:33am on a Friday morning, and Christmas is about a week away. I’ve already spent one week of my holiday and I keep asking myself—where exactly is time running to?
I’m still in bed, reflecting, making plans, and speaking with the Lord. My dad will soon call us for morning devotion. And it still rains. In December. Honestly… this world is moving funny.
Later today I’ll be moderating a children’s event. Lord help me.
While lying here, I had a thought and felt like sharing it with you. I think about you often. Truly.
Some people think I have my life all figured out. Meanwhile, there are days it feels like everything is falling apart. And I realized I do this same thing to people I admire. I look at them and assume life is easy for them, that they’ve cracked some secret code. But when I look closer, I see they’re just human too. Like you and me. They feel things deeply. They get tired. They still need their mummies.
This led me to another realization: what a building under construction and a building falling apart have in common is pieces.
From the outside, people don’t focus on the pieces. They just see the building. They don’t count the blocks or check the wiring. One day they pass and see something small. Next time, it’s at roofing stage. Then suddenly, it’s done.
But when you’re the building, you feel every block. Every piece. Every process. So when things get hard, all you can see are the fragments—and it starts to feel like you’re falling apart, when you might actually just be in the middle of becoming.
I was reminded of this when I saw something about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The Bible never says they saw the Fourth Man in the fire. The king did.
Sometimes when you’re inside the fire, you can’t even tell how Jesus is carrying you. But people watching from the outside can see it clearly.
So keep walking.
The fire of God’s love will carry you through whatever fire you’re facing.
All this is really just me saying: you’re doing better than you think. You’re not breaking. You’re not failing. You’re on a journey and journeys come with bumps, pauses, and uncomfortable moments.
Even if it feels like you’re falling apart, remember this: seeds have to break open to grow. Gold has to pass through fire before it shines.
I’m trying hard not to sound like a motivational speaker while ending this but again, You’re not falling apart. You’re becoming.
Your sibling in Christ,
Adaeze.
