My imaginary Mind Guard or Mind Sorter is a brain type figure that sits on a shelf at the entrance of my mind and guards my mind from any type of danger by sorting through all my positive and negative thoughts and directing them to the appropriate department.
I can only portray it as being a parent to a toddler that keeps wondering off, the parent is the mind guard that keeps bringing the mischievous toddler back (the toddler portrays my thoughts).
Just imagine this mischievous toddler is a thought. Then imagine a responsible parent is the mind guard. Then imagine that toddler keeps wondering off on his little adventures and getting into trouble in all sorts of scenarios and dangerous situations. That parent has to be responsible in bringing that toddler back to safety every time the toddler decides to go wondering off on his little adventures.
Now can you recognise that toddler as one of your thousands of thoughts you have every single day? If you have no mind guard to keep fetching them back to safety to the present time, THE NOW, then they can run riot and be totally uncontrollable because you are not totally aware of your thoughts and where they keep wondering off to. Your thoughts can be abducted by your brain without you even knowing it. The mind guard that you have created inside your head is always aware of this happening to your thoughts and is always on his guard to return them to THE NOW where safety lies.
Until I developed and perfected this technique years ago my thoughts were always running riot and totally out of control, my brain used to latch on to them without me really knowing it. I was totally unaware of it happening to me, this is why I was suffering so much with my nerves. I was doing this to myself and didn’t realise it. I was always looking for an outside cause for how I felt (which was totally shit at the time) I was always looking for a cure in either tablet form or some kind of medication that can calm my nerves down. But nervous illness is NOT an illness of the way you feel (which it definitely feels like at the time) but an illness of the way you think, that is causing you to feel like you do now.
This approach of recovery has its drawbacks though, because it’s not an immediate recovery because it takes time for your new approach and the way you are thinking to work. Your brain has to adapt and get accustomed to the new way you are thinking, plus you have got to train your mind guard to do its job correctly without slipping up.
Most people would give up after a few weeks with this method because: 1: they have no patience (this is understandable because of the nature of your illness) and 2: because they would rather take drugs or some kind of medication because they can’t be bothered to put all the hard work in, in which it involves to totally recover. But be aware that there is no cure for The Anxiety State it will always return if your Mind Guard is off duty.
This mind guard approach to me was the only sure thing that would work for me because I have always been that type of person that doesn’t mind putting the hours, days, months of hard work in to make things happen, and above all to totally recover from my nervous illness with a 100% permanent recovery rate.
