Why Does The NPS Refer To 'Sieur de Cadillac' As 'Self-Proclaimed'?

The NPS is being extremely tactful & diplomatic. 'Cadillac', however, was NO 'noble'.

Have YOU seen this sign? It is one of the first along the iconic ‘Park Loop Road’ shortly after you leave the ‘Hulls Cove’ Visitor Center.

It refers (as you can see) to ‘Antoine de la Mothe, sieur de Cadillac’ as ‘self-proclaimed’.

Do YOU know why?

But then, the rest of the NPS statement is WRONG making a mockery of the whole thing.

It would NOT be ‘self-proclaimedIF he was a noble.

He was NOT a noble. Hence the ‘self-proclaimed’.

Sieur de Cadillac’ is a FAKE TITLE!
