During 2025 Government Shutdown Getting Married At Acadia Will Be Easier.

Yes, you can get married at the Park — & many do (& have done).

There are, however, rules & restrictions.

There are stringent size (i.e., number of people attending) restrictions.

If you want more than 10 people present you HAVE to get a $75 permit from the NPS.

And you apply for those permits my mail, i.e., snail mail not e-mail.

BUT, during the Shutdown the NPS is closed. They will not be processing wedding applications or issuing permits.

It also has to be the case that applications made in the last month (or so) never got around to being processed.

But, by the same token with the bulk of the Park rangers furloughed it is unlikely that much effort is being made to police weddings.

I saw a post this morning of a wedding that had taken place in Acadia over the weekend. It seemed small. So it probably did not require a permit.

It just got me thinking. Wedding had not been talked about in the context of this Shutdown. Well, this could prove to be a bonanza for some though I fully appreciate that most can’t make/change wedding plans in a hurry.

Just giving you a heads up. While the Park is ‘closed’ the weddings will most likely go unchecked.
