It might look greener from the side of the fence you are currently viewing it from. Through rose-tinted glasses, it looks so appealing.
You might be thinking, my patch of grass is full of weeds and overgrown in areas, with soggy patches where flowers no longer grow. It has moss that makes the lawn spongy. It has kids’ toys and balls that forever need picking up.
The thing about taking that life-changing step to the other side of the fence, to the greener grass, is there is no way back. Your original patch will forever be changed.
The greener grass, once you get over there and have skipped around for a while, also grows weeds. It has rocks and slugs, and a different neighbour’s dog shit on it.
The grass is never greener.
It is a different shade, but it will always have some shit on it.
