Most Education Businesses Price Things Backwards

What I believe: If you give people genuinely valuable things for free, they’ll trust you with their money.

This is how I’d structure the ideal education business, whether it is for tutors, course businesses, or edtech businesses. I’d build it in 3 tiers.

1. Premium tier

At the top, I’d have a premium product that is at least 5x, and even up to 10x, more expensive than the next tier.

This has to be one-on-one and done for you.

I’ll have personal live sessions with the people who pay for this. I’ll give them my personal phone number, direct accountability, and one-on-one access to ask questions whenever I reasonably can.

2. Mid tier

The next tier will be done with you and one-to-many.

The live sessions will be with a group. They’ll be in private groups with me, and they’ll have set times when they can ask questions there, so access to me is more limited. I’ll also hire someone to help keep them accountable (not me doing it personally).

3. Free or low-ticket tier

The last tier is the free tier, or maybe the 1k tier.

This will be fully DIY. I’ll give people what they need to try to get results by themselves. That can be through recorded courses, PDFs, and other helpful resources. This tier also serves as the lead magnet, meaning it is what brings people in so I can sell them on to my main offers.

Example: Let’s say I sell a postpartum depression course.

Tier one

Price: ₦199k

Format: One-on-one

What you’ll get: My postpartum depression course taught to you in personal live sessions. I’ll answer your questions directly, and you’ll get a phone call from me every day. You’ll choose the time. I’ll give you every other resource you need, and my personal support will not stop until you overcome it.

Tier two

Price: ₦19k

Format: One-to-many

What you’ll get: My recorded postpartum depression course. I’ll answer your questions in a weekly live session with 9 other people. You’ll also have a support group and be paired with accountability partners.

Tier three

Price: Free or ₦1k

Format: Do-it-yourself

What you’ll get: A free PDF on the causes of postpartum depression. A shorter course on what to avoid during pregnancy. A public group. Daily content on postpartum depression.

P.S. Lol. I do not sell any postpartum depression course. This was the closest example I could find.
