Here's how I charge more doing exactly the same thing

What I believe: You win the moment you understand that the business is not about you.

Look at these:

1. “I offer maths tutoring for secondary school students”

2. I help SS3 students who panic in maths to go into JAMB prepared in just 3 months. I also offer a full refund if they score below 50 in their JAMB maths”

Who would you pay?

My principle: People only care about their desired result. Not the hard process you want to use to get them there. Build the offer from the buyer's side, not yours.

Here's the 4 step process I use to create better offers:

  1. Start with the exact problem

  2. Define the desired result properly

  3. Make the process feel easier.

  4. Remove obvious risk

Example:

  1. Start with the exact problem: Do not start with your service format. Nobody cares whether you sell productivity training or tutoring courses. They only care about their problems. They're unproductive. They are failing maths. Write the problems of your potential costumers down.

  2. Define the desired result properly: Do not promise vague results. “Learn Arabic”. “Grow business”. “Get better at Maths”. These are too broad. Be more specific. Say instead: “Understand the Quran without checking translations”, “Earn at least 2x what you already do”, “Score at least 10 more than you scored in last year's JAMB”.

  3. Make the process feel easier: Instead of selling “a self-paced writing course,” you can sell: “A simple writing course with weekly tasks, examples, and feedback checkpoints so you are aided throughout the journey”

  4. Remove obvious risk: Every potential buyer is afraid of something. It might be putting in the effort and not seeing the result or paying and not getting where they want to. You reduce that risk by adding proof (former reviews), setting clear expectations, guarantees (if I don't get you there, I'll refund you).

P.s. When many people attempt to add guarantees to their products and services, they realise how incompetent they're. That's not a marketing issue. If you can not say, “pay me, I'll give what you want or I'll refund you”. You have a product or skill issue. Fix that.

P.s.s. If you'd want me to personally fix the offer of your business for you and get people to pay more while doing the same thing, please drop a mail at Abdullahadedokunola@gmail.com.
