Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing: What Women Don’t Understand About the Dangers of Men

Allah is the Most Wise and All-Knowing and His Shariah reflects this reality. When we look at how the Islamic system of law functions, we see a constant emphasis on سد الذرائع, in other words, prevention of harm. Allah tells us, for example:
{ وَلَا تَسُبُّوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ یَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَیَسُبُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَدۡوَۢا بِغَیۡرِ عِلۡم كَذَ ٰلِكَ زَیَّنَّا لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمۡ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِم مَّرۡجِعُهُمۡ فَیُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ }
[Surah Al-Anʿām: 108]
"And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do."

Hence, as Muslims—those who submit their wills, desires, and wishes to that of Allah—understand that there is no such thing as “but.” Allah says:
{ وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤۡمِن وَلَا مُؤۡمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥۤ أَمۡرًا أَن یَكُونَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡخِیَرَةُ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِمۡۗ وَمَن یَعۡصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَـٰلا مُّبِینا }
[Surah Al-Aḥzāb: 36]
"It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error."

And this is because our view, understanding, and opinion on something is always restricted to our limited knowledge, wisdom, and foresight, while Allah’s laws are based on His perfect knowledge of yourself:
{ أَلَا یَعۡلَمُ مَنۡ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِیفُ ٱلۡخَبِیرُ }
"Does He not know who created? And He is the Subtle, the Acquainted."
and likewise His knowledge of what things lead to:
{ عَسَىٰۤ أَن تَكۡرَهُوا۟ شَیۡـٔا وَهُوَ خَیۡر لَّكُمۡۖ }
"Perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you."

Sisters need to understand this reality when it comes to men and gender interaction. The wolf will not approach you in his normal appearance but will rather take the form of a sheep:

  • “He seemed so nice.”

  • “He was always respectful to me.”

  • “I can’t believe he’d do something like that.”

Manipulators and abusers do not always look like predators, hence why they are so dangerous. Just because someone knows how to quote some verses, wears a big beard, or has some Instagram followers does not equal a tazkiyah that makes his DMs with no real purpose or need somehow holy.

رأيت أكثر الناس واقفين مع صورة العلم لا حقيقته ابن جوزي
"I have seen most people standing with the appearance of knowledge, not its reality." — Ibn Jawzi

{ ۞ وَإِذَا رَأَیۡتَهُمۡ تُعۡجِبُكَ أَجۡسَامُهُمۡۖ وَإِن یَقُولُوا۟ تَسۡمَعۡ لِقَوۡلِهِمۡۖ كَأَنَّهُمۡ خُشُب مُّسَنَّدَة یَحۡسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَیۡحَةٍ عَلَیۡهِمۡۚ هُمُ ٱلۡعَدُوُّ فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمۡۚ قَـٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ أَنَّىٰ یُؤۡفَكُونَ }
[Surah Al-Munāfiqūn: 4]
"And when you see them, their forms please you, and if they speak, you listen to their speech. [They are] as if they were pieces of wood propped up— they think every shout is against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?"

So when we see Allah place a hijab, both physically:
{ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّبِیُّ قُل لِّأَزۡوَ ٰجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَاۤءِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ یُدۡنِینَ عَلَیۡهِنَّ مِن جَلَـٰبِیبِهِنَّۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ أَدۡنَىٰۤ أَن یُعۡرَفۡنَ فَلَا یُؤۡذَیۡنَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورا رَّحِیما }
[Surah Al-Aḥzāb: 59]
"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful."

and figuratively:
{ یَـٰنِسَاۤءَ ٱلنَّبِیِّ لَسۡتُنَّ كَأَحَد مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَاۤءِ إِنِ ٱتَّقَیۡتُنَّۚ فَلَا تَخۡضَعۡنَ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ فَیَطۡمَعَ ٱلَّذِی فِی قَلۡبِهِۦ مَرَض وَقُلۡنَ قَوۡلا مَّعۡرُوفا }
[Surah Al-Aḥzāb: 32]
"O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should desire, but speak with appropriate speech."

around women, it is not to trap them but to protect them:

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Beware of entering upon women.”
A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, what about the brother-in-law?”
He said, “The brother-in-law is death.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

This hadith highlights that it is not the stranger you should be more careful with, but the men whom you assume to be safe and who have easy access to you.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“There is no marriage except with a wali.”
(Abu Dawood)

A wali isn’t about controlling women.
It’s about protecting her from deception—especially by men who appear religious, charming, and eloquent.

Women often see the mask.
Men often see what’s behind it.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“No man is alone with a woman but that the Shaytan is the third among them.”
(Tirmidhi)

This hadith does not exclude a sheikh, mentor, da’i, or the man you consider to be your “brother.”

{ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ دِينٍ خُلُقًا، وَخُلُقُ الْإِسْلَامِ الْحَيَاءُ }
“Indeed, every religion has a characteristic, and the characteristic of Islam is modesty (hayaa).”
Reported by Ibn Majah (4182) from the hadith of Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنهما.

Now, don’t misunderstand this blog: not all men are wolves or evil, unlike what this Western “feminist” world wants you to believe so it can destroy families and keep you working in its capitalist monster machine. But even well-intentioned men are not immune from the fitnah of women. As the saying goes, the path of hell is paved with good intentions. The Prophet ﷺ told us:

“I have not left behind me any fitnah more harmful to men than women.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

Yusuf (‘alayhi as-salam) said:

{ وَإِلَّا تَصۡرِفۡ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ أَكُن مِّنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ }
[Surah Yusuf: 33]
"And if You do not avert from me their plan, I might incline toward them and be of the ignorant."

That’s a prophet speaking.
What about the rest of us?

But of course people will always object: “But it’s just a message,” “You’re extreme,” “Not every man is like that,” “He’s just complimenting my writing.” But the reality is that you do not need to perceive the harm for it to exist. Allah is al-Hakim, al-‘Alim, and just hence why Allah told us to submit completely:

{یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱدۡخُلُوا۟ فِی ٱلسِّلۡمِ كَاۤفَّةً وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَ ٰتِ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمۡ عَدُوّ مُّبِین}
[Surah Al-Baqarah: 208]
"O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [and perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy."

Not selective obedience. We do not obey because it makes sense to us, but because we understand our position as servants.

Sisters: Please take your precautions not because women are the problem but because of the reality of this world. Take your hijab/niqab seriously. There is no need for us to know how you look, let alone with makeup. If the brother wants to marry you, he will contact your wali. There is no such thing as friends between genders.

Brothers: Let us understand our limits and not fool ourselves into thinking we are too holy to fall into temptation:

{ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱلسِّجۡنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَیَّ مِمَّا یَدۡعُونَنِیۤ إِلَیۡهِۖ وَإِلَّا تَصۡرِفۡ عَنِّی كَیۡدَهُنَّ أَصۡبُ إِلَیۡهِنَّ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِینَ }
[Surah Yusuf: 33]
"He said, 'My Lord, prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me. And if You do not avert from me their plan, I might incline toward them and be of the ignorant.'"

Lower your gaze both online and offline, stop messaging sisters, understand that this is a sister majority app and thus we must be even more careful of falling into sin.
