The little things, yes the tiniest detail you notice about someone, something totally matters. It basically shows how much you love being in the present. "Oh, don't put tomatoes in her burger, she hates that," "this meme reminds me of him, let me send it first." These small moments show attention that slowly scream I see you. This creates intimacy, a private language between people. They have their own frequency and wavelength they work on. These details make ordinary things extraordinary.
The other day I went for a walk where I did this exercise of noticing a single color throughout. At first I thought this was silly, but eventually I started paying more attention. I noticed different shades of green. How that girl's hairband matched her shoes. And how the deep green leaves let the pink flowers pop out. The walk felt better and more fun.
Nothing feels more special than someone sending you a picture of a cat they spotted on their way to the gym — especially when they know you are not even a cat person. It is not about the cat, it's about you. It is about the fact that they thought of you in the middle of the day. Isn't this what love or care means? No grand gestures but small interruptions of being remembered.
Maybe details are a way of saying: I paid attention, I was here with you, you matter so much that I remember the small parts of you.
We never really fall in love with people in general, we notice the details and we fall for them. The way someone's voice changes when they are excited. The way their eyes shine in the sun, or the way they remember your coffee order.
It is never the big days we miss the most, it's the gorgeous tiny details stitched into ordinary ones — proof that we were seen, felt, and loved in tiny timeless ways.
xoxo,
Aayushi.
