The people who never leave a comment

I used to think that the only people who cared about what I wrote were the ones who left a like or a comment. Because they are the only ones you can actually see. If someone liked your post, you knew they enjoyed it. If they commented, you knew your words reached them.

This part feels kind of ironic because i am one of those people too. I read so many posts without leaving a like or a comment and honestly, it happens way more often than i would like to admit lol.

Just because someone doesn’t leave a like or comment doesn’t mean they didn’t care. Maybe they smiled at something you wrote. Maybe they agreed with you. Maybe they even shared it with a friend.

There are so many writers whose work I absolutely love. I have reread paragraphs because they were written so beautifully. And yet... I have probably left way fewer likes and comments than I should have.

We have started treating likes and comments as the only proof that someone cared.

Of course, this doesn’t take away from the people who do leave a like or a comment. I appreciate them even more because they took a few extra seconds out of their day to let me know they were there.

But I also don’t think they’re the only people who care.

Maybe some of the people who connect with your writing are the ones you will never hear from.

thanks for reading !!
