How do you sit on your butt while NOT sitting on your butt?

I’ve gained a reputation for being one of the hardest working cartoonists, rightfully or not, I don’t know. But a couple weeks before Christmas, I had a surgery that forced me to take some time off to basically binge watch movies and tv shows and not sit upright like I would while I’m typing this on the computer. It was driving me crazy. Maybe folks are right. Anyway, I’m all healed up, and somehow during my involuntary hiatus, I still seemed to get a bunch of comics drawn, make some videos, and start my annual tradition of drawing a caricature a day via the Caricature Resolution challenge.

Again, I had only one event, a signing and meet-and-greet at the Barnes & Noble in Loveland. They did a nice job setting me up right by the entrance and stocking up on my books for the event, but it was a tough event. I felt like a panhandler no one wants to make eye contact with. This was a real test of my rusty convention sales skills. In the end, I successfully signed 5 books and the remaining stock for the store. If you haven’t gotten a signed copy of my book yet, it’s a good bet you can still get one there!

The next events I have will be doing include a full slate of virtual readings for World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday February 4th including schools from New York to Hawaii, and I’ll be doing FREE caricatures and a Comics and Cartooning Games Workshop and an Author/Educator Speed Dating event at CCIRA Thursday, February 5th - Friday, February 6th. Hope to see all you educators there!

Don’t forget I now have downloadable educator resources on my website for my books! Please check them out, and book me soon for your school author visits!

As promised, here are new strips for the new year! Enjoy them while I’m able to produce them. I expect to get busy with deadlines again soon and will return to reruns at that time.

If you need to catch up on the strips in chronological order (or reverse order), you can view the archive at salemcharteracademy.com.

These are the strips that ran since my last newsletter. You can visit the growing archive for this strip at stanyan.me/comic-strip/lmoe, and if you really like something, click on my TeePublic link at the bottom of the page.

I ran these new strips mostly weekly through December. Find the biweekly archives at eupologies.com, and if you really like something, click on my TeePublic link at the bottom of the page.

I’ve finally gotten a chance to make some more craft videos about comics and did a couple for Arree Chung’s graphic novel, Don’t Cause Trouble:

Here’s a video of my #2026caricatureresolution drawings:

I’m still closed to studio commissions, but I have continued to do live gigs, so, you can still hire me to draw for your event at zombicatures.com.

I’m going to be regularly adding this section to my newsletter to highlight my favorite reads of the month, but I’m not soliciting books for review, so PLEASE don’t send me your book.

Thanks for your continued support! You're helping my dreams happen!

Thanks for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it.
