You’d think that with the splash of my middle grade graphic novel debut, THE MANY MISFORTUNES OF EUGENIA WANG, I’d have no need to reassess 2025, but as doors open, there’s always new demands on our time that get us making hard decisions. One of those is that I decided to close down my Patreon so I can spend more time here on a newsletter that has made my Patreon a tad redundant, other than the rewards I was sending out to my COLLECTOR-LEVEL backers. Will I have a subscription level for my newsletter going forward? Perhaps. But I feel better for now providing my updates and comics for free.
The other thing I’ve done is officially shut down my street team, Team Misfortune. My final winner of my December Team Misfortune giveaway is Al Steffen! Congratulations!
The one event I had the pleasure of doing this month was the Asian Book Bazaar.
The next event I have will be a signing and meet-and-greet on Saturday, January 17th from 11 am - noon at the Barnes & Noble in Loveland, CO. Hope to see you there!

More reviews are coming in for my book! l don’t forget to drop me a review, and if you have already, make sure to copy them over to Amazon, where you can make a big impact!
Don’t forget I now have downloadable educator resources on my website for my books! Please check them out, and book me soon for your school author visits!
I ran some classic strips again in December due to some deadlines and because of some surgery recovery, but new strips are coming for the new year!
If you need to catch up on the strips in chronological order (or reverse order), you can view the archive at salemcharteracademy.com.
This is the strip that ran since my last newsletter (Since I ran a bunch of Eupologies in their stead). You can visit the growing archive for this strip at https://www.stanyan.me/comic-strip/lmoe, and if you really like something, click on my TeePublic link at the bottom of the page.
I ran these new strips mostly weekly through December. Find the biweekly archives at eupologies.com, and if you really like something, click on my TeePublic link at the bottom of the page.
Here’s a video of some of my favorite caricatures from a couple of holiday party gigs:
I’m still closed to studio commissions, but I have continued to do live gigs, so, you can still hire me to draw for your event at zombicatures.com.
I’m going to be regularly adding this section to my newsletter to highlight my favorite reads of the month, but I’m not soliciting books for review, so PLEASE don’t send me your book.
Thanks for your continued support! You're helping my dreams happen!
Thanks for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it.
