so we moved our dance shoes ever so slowly to the rhythm of nothing.

thought alone wouldn’t do the job

so there had to be glitter,

machine parts,

some rubber band

a switch button

-preferably in orange

because red scares me-

and time.

nothing alone

fixes anything

and nowadays

I doubt anything

ever needs

any fixing.

it wasn’t you

I was getting

rather bored,

impatient

for you to tell

me the truth

so I went away.

but blame is a funny thing

shame,

fame,

and the names of everything.

I didn’t take off my coat

because I was no longer cold

but it was because I

didn’t need it anymore

or maybe I just

wanted it in

a different color.

I’m lucky to have come

to a point now where

I forgot who wrote the script

or what kind of pen

was used for it.

I’m lucky I learned counting

in school and later on

barely had to look back.

I’m staring at the shine

on the silverware and

forgetting about all the rest

which I wouldn’t say is

good

or moral,

but here we are today,

asking,

what even is?

I do not relate to zippers

as much as I do to zip ties

or ropes

or tape!

stickers have a way

of confusing me

because they are too much

of this world and only

a few of them are

reusable.

yellow subtitles.

only the yellow ones.

like the center area

of a daisy flower or

the hats used for heavy duty

protection.

because anything on any day

at anywhere

could fall on your head

and that would be a disaster

but what might be even worse

is you might not even notice it

and keep on walking.

then what to do?

what to do other than pick something different this time,

or really nothing at all for a change.

I thought the first line of this poem

was written by someone else,

that I had stolen it,

and kept it in my memory

among other things that are

mine that I’ve stolen

from somebody else. but I was wrong.

they don’t tell you this in school.

actually,

no one tells you anything.

you go to bed,

and wake up,

but I’m lucky,

I cry all the time,

and I don’t think I am ever going to die.
