Hi there
Just a quick heads-up about a playwrighting commission in case you’re not aware of it. (And if you are, apologies for cross-posting.)
James Etherington, Director of the historic Kilpin Hall and Gardens, up near Richmond in the Yorkshire Dales, contacted me with the following info about a potential playwright commission. It sounds interesting but I know nothing more about it than this, so if you have any queries or would like to make a pitch, please contact him rather than me:
Kiplin Hall is looking to select a writer to create a play that acts as a response to a play that was once performed at Kiplin by the Carpenter Family in 1894. The original play was “The Spirit of Seventy Six or The Coming of Woman, a Prophetic Drama”. We want to create a response to this that engages with the themes of the original and creates a new work that can be run as a double bill with the original. We are planning to raise external funds to deliver this project, but need to secure a writer first to help us develop the bids.
Full details of the commission are available at www.kiplinhall.co.uk/jobs , please read that and if there are any questions contact director@kiplinhall.co.uk. The deadline for submission is 9am on 29th May.
Many thanks
All the best
James
