Brig. Gen. Telford Taylor when he was the United States’ chief prosecutor at the Nuremburg War Crimes Trials. U.S. Army photo

The Sunday edition of the communist Daily Worker on December 6, 1953, carried an article full of praise for General Telford Taylor. General Taylor’s speech at the West Point Military Academy was an attack on Senator McCarthy’s exposure of communist traitors. The Daily Worker hailed Taylor as a genuine antifascist. Why is Taylor allowed to wear the uniform of the U.S. when he attacks American ideals and American patriots?

More important, this outburst against Senator McCarthy’s anticommunist work took place at West Point before the future officers of the U.S. Army. One asks oneself why this hero of the communist Daily Worker was ever invited to present his anti-American views to impressionable young Americans who, in a few years, will be responsible for our security. The American way is open debate on public affairs, not this backstabbing, this Marxist underhandedness. Who is General Telford Taylor? He is a partner in the multimillionaire Wall Street firm of Weiss, Paul and Rifkind, one of the richest law firms in the U.S., which handles business for families like the Guggenheims.

What is he doing in the Jewish law firm?

The answer is simple: He is there to cover up the Jewish machinations. Judge Samuel Rifkind, Taylor’s partner at the firm, served as special adviser on Jewish affairs to General Eisenhower in London during the Second World War. Rifkind was part of the Jewish horde that surrounded Eisenhower during that critical period of American history. That explains why the Jewish secret police, the “Anti-Defamation League,” put Eisenhower forward for the presidential election.

When it came time to prosecute the rightful heads of the German government, Judge Samuel Rifkind would have been the proper prosecutor. But he preferred to push forward General Telford Taylor, his associate at the law firm. Taylor was chief prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials. They were staged on the model of the notorious Soviet purge trials of 1937–38. And who directed this Soviet justice? General Telford Taylor! At the very moment the communist Daily Worker was singing General Telford Taylor’s praises at the top of its lungs, Senator Joseph McCarthy held a press conference and produced a transcript from Taylor’s personnel file. It showed a notation in the “Flag” field and carried the note “unresolved question of loyalty” (Newark Star-Ledger, December 6, 1953). The employee who obtained this evidence for McCarthy was dismissed by the government—because he had exposed communism!

Millions of New York City residents never saw this information because the newspaper dealers’ union and the printers had called a strike just as Congress was holding hearings on the slaughter of our American boys by communist butchers in Korea. Was that not a strange time to call a newspaper strike? Congress and the Supreme Court could not stop the publication of these facts, yet an uncanny power behind those unions managed to do what Congress and the Supreme Court could not.

A correspondent of the Federal Council in Bonn reported that by autumn 1951 the Soviets had settled 650,000 Asian workers from various tribes in the occupied German provinces east of the Oder and Neisse—100,000 in East Prussia and 120,000 in Lower Silesia. Separate Chinese quarters have been established in Cottbus, Königshütte, Beuthen, and Glatz. Pravda announces the settlement of another 2.5 million Chinese in these areas.

These forced settlers did not come of their own free will. A large part of the 100,000 foreign settlers in East Prussia, for example, are the remnants of the brave, unfortunate Crimean Turks who fought with last-ditch devotion against Bolshevism on our side and were therefore robbed of their sunny homeland, the Crimea, and resettled in East Prussia. Other groups are Caucasians. Among the Chinese, too, there are many anti-Communists who have been forcibly resettled to Europe as punishment. Taken as a whole, however, the measure is a brutal uprooting of people and a penetration of the old German soil with completely alien elements—the de-Europeanization of Central Europe. In Poland as well, Chinese columns are being used in the service of communism to hold the Polish population down.

What one is to make of the patriotic phrases of the Pieck-Grotewohl misgovernment in the Soviet Zone is shown by the fact that the state commission for artistic affairs has ordered the authorities there to tear down every war memorial from the wars of 1870–71, 1914–18, and 1939–45. Those made of metal are to be scrapped. The order also covers monuments in honor groves and cemeteries that survived the general devastation of monuments by the Communists in 1945. This desecration of the dead and destruction of art is justified by the claim that the monuments represent “a glorification of wars of robbery and aggression.”

In Pomerania and Silesia, the German eastern territories, a large number of concentration and penal camps, guarded by the communist Polish police, hold political and criminal prisoners together. Among the inmates are many Germans. The largest camp is at Naugard—there sit all those sentenced to forced labor for “sabotage” and “endangering public security”; there is also a large penal camp for juveniles near Naugard; the camp at Köslin holds 1,000 prisoners; in a large camp near Stargard, especially women, girls, and mothers with children are held. At Altdamm there is a special “interrogation”—that is, torture—camp for “spies” and “agents.” In Silesia, a notorious torture camp stands at Liegnitz; smaller camps lie at Guben, Goldberg, and Löwenberg. The prisoners in the Waldenburg camp must work partly in the forest and partly under terrible conditions in stone quarries. Near Breslau, another enormous penal camp is under construction. The camp at Ratibor has virtually the reputation of an “execution site.” Equally horrific are the camps at Königshütte, Ruda, and Kattowitz; the last two are under the administration of the Soviet MWD. Reports from refugees who escaped these camps speak of bone-breaking labor, terrible hunger, and brutal mistreatment.

The London Times, however, writes enthusiastically about “Germany’s tragic East,” noting that “the Polish settlement east of the Oder-Neisse line has been carried out with relative success despite the obvious difficulties.” The concentration camps, at any rate, stand.

The following people work for the offices of the protection of the constitution and spy on Reich-loyal Germans:

  • Dr. (the doctorate is false and obtained by fraud!) Klaus Hornig, Frankfurt a. M., Stefan-Heise-Straße 13.

  • Dr. Alfred Martin, Berchtesgaden–Stangas, Ponnlehen.

We ask our readers to send us names, addresses, and, if possible, more detailed descriptions of the actions of further informers and eight-groschen boys of the constitution-protection offices so that we can publish them here.

We shall now regularly make known from our card index such subjects who, as servants of the foreign rule, allow themselves to be used against our Volk.

The State of Israel has established so-called Nahal settlements along its entire armistice border, which the Allgemeine Wochenzeitung für die Juden in Deutschland [“General Weekly Newspaper for the Jews in Germany”, June 4, 1954] itself calls Wehrbauern [“military settlers”]. Israel is thus copying the plans the Reichsführer-SS drew up to secure the German eastern border during the war. The girls of these Nahal settlements marched in Israel’s last parade, wearing steel helmets and carrying rakes and spades. The public applauded like mad. There is, after all, something fine about Israeli militarism, but—what fits one may not fit all!

The British aviation company BOAC announced that the Arab states had informed the company that they would no longer allow any Israeli citizen to transit through their countries. The Iraqi government has extended the ban to all passengers of the Jewish faith. Since then, the British airline has required passengers flying via Baghdad to provide proof of Aryan descent. Iraq, that is, intends not only to arrest Jews who land on its airfields but also to confiscate the aircraft.

The brave, old President of Korea, Syngman Rhee, whom U.S. policy toward the Soviets has left in the lurch, addressed an appeal to the world, according to the magazine Korean Survey, that the great press, as always, silenced to death, and in which he said:

“Some people beyond the oceans express their surprise and disapproval because we do not sit still and resign ourselves to our national abandonment and national tragedy, and because we do not agree with their miserable wish to let sleeping dogs lie. ‘At any rate, the guns are not going off,’ they say. They remind one of the man who falls from a rock and says: Thank God I have not yet hit the ground! What reason for optimism do they have if the enemy is not driven back and defeated? Do they honestly believe for one minute that the Soviet strategists have changed one iota of their plans for world conquest? In the face of this situation, wanting to rejoice is to stage a rag-ball in a death-chamber! We Koreans are not soft. We have a good army—and more than that, a good cause. We do not want to fight in order to take from others even an inch of their territory. We do not fight for commercial advantages or for revenge. All we want is to drive the invader out of our country and back into his own. We want nothing but that: the right to govern ourselves […]

“World war is certainly a hideous possibility that everyone wishes to avoid. What I would remind the leaders of the world, however, is that war has never been avoided by weakness—and that it will not be avoided that way either. No friendship can demand of us that we accept invasion and occupation. Good friends likewise demand nothing of their friends that they themselves would not do. You and I know that the U.S. and the other great democratic states would never have stopped fighting and left half their country and many of their own people under foreign rule. If a group of peoples proposed an armistice to them under these circumstances, they would call it nothing other than surrender and reject it. For me there is only one real peace—when the enemy withdraws across the Yalu River and frees our country.”

In São Paulo, Brazil, the socialist deputy of the Partido Socialista Brasileiro, Mr. Cid Franco, is trying to play a greater role than his intellect warrants. He was formerly a Communist and is proud of it. For some time, he has been conducting conversations on “Radio America”—the people call these broadcasts “Hora Mosaica” [“Mosaic Hour”]—with all sorts of people under the title “Entrevistas humanas” [“Human Interviews”], in which he tries to push his reddish wisdoms. Recently, for this purpose, he picked up a worker who had recently arrived in Brazil, a Serb. The dialogue began with the usual questions:

“How do you like it in Brazil?” “Do you earn well?”

And then Mr. Cid Franco asked the Serb:

“How was it in the war?”

The Serb adjusted himself and said slowly and emphatically:

“I fought as a royalist Serb against the Germans and the Italians, that is, against Nazis and Fascists. Afterwards, I experienced communism on my own body in the concentration camp. I therefore say openly: should it start again, I would fight on the side of the Nazis and Fascists to wipe out the Bolshevik pest!”

Then Cid Franco screeched (how little Cid, how little Franco!):

“You must not say that. We are in Brazil. We are a democracy. Remember once and for all: fascism is just as great an evil as communism!—The broadcast is ended!”

The broadcast is ended! That is democracy.
