Hello, Friends. The Sun enters Virgo tomorrow, marking the initiation of this year’s Virgo Season. Virgo season marks the mutable part of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere—the part that gets us ready for Autumn. (In the Southern Hemisphere, the mutable part of Winter is preparing us for Spring.) Things shift and change as Summer draws to a close and we busy ourselves organizing and preparing for the next phase of the year.
This year, Virgo Season is bookended by two Virgo New Moons—one in the first degree of Virgo on August 23 and the other in the final degree of Virgo on September 21, just before the Sun enters Libra. The second is a Partial Solar Eclipse. In the middle, on September 7, we have a Total Lunar Eclipse in Pisces.
Personally, I’m very fond of Virgo season. I relish the feeling of oncoming Autumn and the little quickening I usually get at this time of year. It’s like a little rush of oxygen to the brain for me and I tend to feel more smoothly productive. It doesn’t always work out that way, of course, but I think the configuration of this New Moon bodes well for Mercurial matters and maybe even for ingenious solutions to practical problems. I like the connection of the Sun-Moon conjunction to Uranus in Gemini, with Uranus participating in the ongoing outer planets configuration (Uranus trining Pluto, with Saturn and Neptune sextiling each of them from the midpoint). Of course, a square to Uranus always makes surprises likely. Focusing on Process, rather than Perfection, seems like a good way to go.
The Sun’s ingress into Libra on September 21 will mark the Western Equinox. That’s the turning point that begins Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and Spring in the Southern Hemisphere. Libra Season will also be colored by a Virgo New Moon—a critical one. Since that New Moon is an eclipse, I would estimate that it’s coloring the season we’re entering now, as well. I expect quite a bit will change between August 23 and September 21. It’s a great time to take note!

Calendar dates are left for you to fill on your own. I find timeanddate.com’s Moon Phase page helpful for this. Set your locale to find the dates for the major lunar phases and more.

If you want to wing it, just fold along the dotted lines and cut on the solid line in the center. Make sure to make nice, sharp creases like a good Virgo! ;)
