Mary Olive · Field Notes of a Phenomenaut

It seems we’ve wandered into another of many incredible moments. In just a few hours, (12:46 am on November 20 for me, here in the zone of CST), the Moon meets the Sun at 28°11’ Scorpio. Mercury will retrogress into a meeting with the Moon at 28°26’ at 1:15 am, then Cazimi at 28°18’ at 3:25 am (CST). All of this in the 29th degree of Scorpio. What could be more insight-stimulating than a good Mercury Cazimi? How about Mercury Cazimi during a Sun-Uranus opposition? Coming right up! As Moon, Mercury and Sun meet in that final degree of Scorpio, loosely holding the third leg of this Grand Water Trine we’ve been enjoying, they oppose retrograde Uranus across the way in the final degree of Taurus. Uranus is exactly sextile Neptune, also retrograde.

If ever a moment was configured for a Phenomenaut’s adventure on the hypnogogic trail, this is nice work. A dark Moon in Scorpio always feels to me like an invitation to explore inner territory, but this one seems to be decorated and fine tuned to facilitate the intimate telling of some kind of potent secret to you by you. What can you learn from yourself? It’s a great time to turn down the noise and listen for the Signal. And, of course, have a pen and notebook nearby.

If you missed the precise moments of these connections, never fear. This energy is, as they say, baked into the lunar cycle ahead and, in some ways, into the next six months (fruiting at the Scorpio Full Moon).

On that note, I have another Lunar Cycle Pocket Guide for you. This one is a template blank, so you can fill it in for your local context. You can find your local times and dates for the major phases at timeanddate.com/moon/phases/ and the celestial longitudes (and much more) at Astro-seek’s Luna - Moon Search Engine. Fold on the dotted guides, cut on the solid guides in the center, enjoy! I’ll work up a more detailed guide for use in the near future.

I wish you a thoughtful and brilliant week.

Always have a pen.
