John 10:1-2 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter through the door into the sheepfold but climbs up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber. But he who enters through the door is the shepherd of the sheep.” (TS 2009)

If you have been following along, a few weeks ago we looked at the Sheepfold constellation.

Today, we will look at a constellation that goes right along with the Sheepfold. It is the Good Shepherd. In John 10:1-2, we see both the sheepfold and the shepherd mentioned.

How awesome is this that the two constellations are pictured in the sky together to illustrate Yahushua’s teaching in John 10!

The Good Shepherd is a very simple and bright picture, which makes it rather easy to find in the night sky.

The constellation consists of a figure with a head, upper body, and hooked arm. A star in the arm is particularly bright, a real spectacular sight. ⭐

The Hebrew name of the Good Shepherd is Araga (‫ארגע‬).

The name comes from the Hebrew root verb raga, meaning to settle, quiet, or to make at rest; the adjective ragia means restful, peaceful, and quiet. The word is closely related to the word ra’ah (‫רעה‬), translating to shepherd, feed, or pasture.

Are these words starting to paint a picture? They reveal Yahushua’s role as the Good Shepherd.

John 10:14 “I am the good shepherd. And I know Mine, and Mine know Me.”

Yahushua’s role as our shepherd is historic, prophetic, and present.

He already came to Earth to lay down His life for the sheep.

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.”

Before His second coming, Yahushua will gather His Father’s sheep in the End Days. He will come to His people once they are gathered in the sheepfold. Then, He will lead His sheep out of the fold.

John 10:4 “And when he has brought out his own sheep, he goes before them. And the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.”

At first glance, John 10 may seem metaphoric. However, have you considered that John 10 is prophecy?

While Yahushua used some imagery in this passage, the events align with several other prophetic Scriptures.

But don’t just take my word for it. I encourage you to test this for yourself.

Bible Study Assignment: Read John 10. Then, look at the following prophetic passages:

  • Micah 2:12-13

  • Ezekiel 20:33-38

  • Ezekiel 34:11-16

  • Ezekiel 34:23-31

  • Isaiah 56:8

Does Yahushua’s teaching in John 10 connect with these prophecies?

I invite you to share your insights in the comments.

Yahushua taught about the sheepfold gathering place. His listeners may have known about the Ingathering because it was in the prophetic Scriptures all along. Yahushua declared Himself as the Good Shepherd of the end-days gathering.

In my new book, Salvation in the Sheepfold, I showed how the prophetic Scriptures correlate with the pictures in the constellations to reveal end-days salvation. I used John 10 to share about constellations like the Sheepfold, Good Shepherd, and Breaker.
