I recently watched an interview with Nancy Umeh, where she spoke about her journey to motherhood, including the heartbreak of having 8 whole miscarriages!
And it got me thinking deeply because just a few days ago, I also heard a story about a woman who had been trying to have a baby for over 17 years, then at age 49, she started looking pregnant and everyone around believed she was finally going to have a child, so obviously everyone was excited yeah?
But sadly, it turned out it wasn’t pregnancy all along, it was a fibroid.
From what I heard, she and those around her believed it would eventually become a miracle baby or something about not believing the “Doctor’s report”
So instead of getting treatment, they held on to that hope and this woman carried this thing for complete 4 years without treatment!
During the last year, her health had deteriorated badly, she lost so much weight. It was after this deterioration that they decided to consult a doctor, but sadly it was already too late, and she passed away… Just like that!!!!
Of course the fibroid never “became a baby.”
See, Crazy things happen to women and most times they are simply pushed by the pressure from everywhere and become desperate for just anything
Yes, there are some women who have fibroids, receive proper treatment or management and later go on to have healthy pregnancies. But leaving your health entirely to chance while hoping for a miracle is incredibly dangerous and wilddddddd!
Did you also know that child trafficking has also become a common crime that many women are in custody for right here in Nigeria?
That is why we need more honest conversations about fertility… You don’t have to die childless. No woman should die because she’s trying to have a baby and you definitely should not lose your freedom because someone took advantage of your desperation.
Whether it’s IVF, surrogacy or adoption, or any legal means, your child is still their child!
Stop womb watching and asking couples when they’re having children… Mind your business my sister
Meanwhileeee, this is 2026, so stop looking down on women who choose IVF or even surrogacy, the process doesn’t make the child less special.
And please stop putting unnecessary pressure on natural birth using the “Hebrew women” tag which is obviously being misconstrued. Every pregnancy is different, and no woman should feel like she failed because her birth story didn’t look like someone else’s.
Motherhood is not a competition. Protect your health. ask questions. Seek proper medical care. Hold on to your faith if that’s important to you, but please don’t ignore your health while waiting for a miracle.
