On Being a Slow Creator

Creativity at its core, for me, is quick, fast and thunderous. I get a bolt of inspiration, and I must touch pen to paper or I lose the spark. But as a neurospicy disabled person, sometimes the pen feels miles away and the brain foggy.

“Oh, I liked that! Wait, what was it? Ugh, damn! Lost another one.”

Living a Slow Life (my very first post 3 years ago and my first taste of slow living) means allowing myself to feel my feelings, move at the pace of nature and the seasons, and rest. Really, truly rest. Now if I get a spark of inspiration, I have a choice. Do I have the spoons to stay up till 1 am writing, or should I make a quick note, journal for 5 minutes and then go to bed? It can be a tough call sometimes, especially cause I might not be able to remember the idea after a few weeks.

So, here’s an ode to my notes section. May she continue to reign over my every creative whim. Enjoy!
